Grealish will be because he has had no pre season, he’s been training on his own and didn’t go to CWC. If Moyes had started Beto against Roma and Leeds then fair enough, but for him to start our final pre season game and then have Beto (who is absolutely garbage)selected over him is worrying, especially as he was only give 8 mins as a sub, when we were awful.

I think Moyes is a manager who has a sense of loyalty to his players so if you have the shirt and you do okay for him he'll play you (talking about Beto doing well for him last season) I expect Barry to be our number 1 striker by the seasons end though

Yep, I understand that, but why start Barry and give him an hour in our last pre season game? This isn’t a criticism of Moyes BTW. It’s a concern he’s not seen enough from Barry for him to warrant a position ahead of Beto, who I have seen enough of to know that he isn’t good enough.

with KDH and grealish in, i think Beto gets a clean slate. you have to wonder how he'll do with better support, and i'd imagine he has the benefit of the doubt and it's his spot to lose.

leeds game was an incomplete grade for me. he hardly had any chances because our whole system was shot

He's got a mistake in him, last 2 times I've seen him he got Martinez sent off with a bad back pass and last week he got Konsa sent off with a wild cross that sent Newcastle on the break

Essentially you’re saying that Barry will be enough to get us through a decent (for us) season. No worries, let’s check back if it was Barry and/or Beto who inspired that decent season, IF it happens

I think the two of them will be. The whole point of having more than one striker is to provide different options.

As I’ve said, Moyes has made a decision to start Beto vs Leeds and that may (I don’t know as a fact as I don’t know Moyes personally) be because Moyes felt his skills were better suited to the game.

I expect them both to get lots of minutes and both contribute. I would expect Barry to take the role as first choice striker by end of season, but I also expect Beto to contribute and hit 8+ goals again.

We play with 1 up front, there’s no world where we achieve our aims playing with a 1 up top who can’t control a ball
