2025/26 David Moyes

Also very noticeable that both the i and the telegraph hammered Moyes in articles on Tuesday centring on how he set the team u. Athletic doing Everton top of the panic o metre table today.

Pretty sure Moyes ain't got the layer of protection in the media or in the boardroom he enjoyed last time here, new stadium means he can't fall back on his old club trying to punch above it's weight idea either.

We are around ten days away from TFG wanting an explanation for what went wrong this summer. Question is are they gonna listen to Kinnear or to Moyes who already acted in a outburst way. My bet would be they are t backing any manager over corporate hires.

I agree that Moyes will emerge as the loser but in truth neither he nor Kinnear can emerge with any credit unless there is a big upturn in transfer fortunes over the next 12 days. In all likelihood now it's coming down to the last day.

We don't know how much of a watching brief TFG are keeping but if there is cash left on the table and gone unspent then it's a wasted opportunity and they will not be happy.

I thought the contrast between Moyes and Gasperini has been quite contrasted over the summer. Both new managers in TFG. Gasperini indicates there has been direct contact and support from Friedkin, whilst Moyes has appeared almost continuously agitated.

Not assuming there that Moyes has been an afterthought for TFG, but something feels off. If I was at TFG, I'd be wanting to know now what the issues are, not on Sept. 2.

I’ve no problem with people giving him jip for Monday, especially the Garner at LB thing.

But come on people, let’s not be this fickle.

We do not know what has or appears to be the problem with recruitment, but until we know otherwise Moyes cannot be absolved of any blame.
For all his public complaining , he is part of that process , of that there is no doubt.
How much responsibility we do not know , but he certainly has some culpability in the failures.
Personally I don’t think it helps that he is not necessarily a manager whose reputation easily entices players to want to play for him.

So what would your lineup and tactical plan be for Monday’s game? It’s easy to moan, but harder to present solutions.
Three at the back - Tarkowski, Keane and O'Brien, McNeil and Garner wingbacks, Grealish on the left, N'Diaye on the right, Gana behind KDH in the centre of the park and Barry up front. Your turn to moan about how ridiculous my formation suggestion is.

Can’t say that. Maybe it would’ve worked better. But three at the back is negative for me and the problem wasn’t the defence particularly

He's a little bit above dyche, and Mondays embarrassing show proved it, he didn't gave a clue what to do to change the game tactically, I don't blame garner but why did moyes think it was a good move to play garner at left back, why didn't he go 3 at the back 2 wing backs mac neil on the left garner back in the middle. Moyes will keep us out of trouble but is that's it, we need a younger progressive manager.

Still would have him above Dyche and Potter who both would have us 17th last season anyday.

I have said before that Moyes openly grumbling about the transfer difficulties was a touch ingenuous. As you point out the changes brought in ( including a former associate) , placed him very much in amongst what is currently a very small committee (some appointments are currently pending).
I am not saying he doesn’t have complaints ,but at that point they should have been kept private.
Lacking ready access to the media , the other members of the transfer ‘committee’ had no easy way to defend themselves against any perceived failings on their part.
So why do it publicly?
Moyes is too experienced and too canny an operator to make a mistake like that . It was political and deliberate to cover his own part in the failings and to deflect any responsibility. In my opinion.
Contrast this to when he was here previously, while he pointed out the obvious financial difficulties we faced he never pointed the finger at Kenwrights inability to finance the club .

Yeah , I feel Moyes stuck in his ways. No fresh talent, at least v1 Moyes played a young Rooney, Barkley.

They've utterly f&&$d up the summer. Utter arrogance/ incompetence and wastefulness after the good run last Jan and Feb.

Are we really spending 250k a week on Grealish. That's the level of imagination we had when needing to fix our entire right side and 2 x CMs.

Thanks for the pin in the balloon bottom 6-7 season.

Just rinse the everton faithful AGAIN to instead make BMD a place to be - in the absence of a well managed football team.

Imagine spending this level of funds and not improving a single weak area of the team.

The bleating and crazy eyes and laugh when he said he wanted 9 or 10 players.

The whinging and what appears to be panic buying .

I think Moyes may well be in trouble soon. Either he gets a right wing and a right back, in which case our American overlords will expect him to be winning games and we've all seen how quick to sack a coach they can be. Or he gets a few squad fillers in and TFG still expect him to get results, as they have spent nearly £100 million.

So basically he gets the players he wants and quickly turns us into a winning side or there is every chance that TFG pull the trigger.

I think theyre too invested in him.

“European places form” is the key phrase here David.

He’s since then lost 10 players, some of whom were regular starters.

We both agree he’s been let down on player recruitment. Not sure how you don’t consider that with the pre season problems he has.

I'd be interested to understand how "he's been let down on player recruitment" for the past decade.

It always seems as if someone else is to blame with David Moyes.

I said it months ago that we'll be looking for a new manager by November. Last season, the only thing that mattered was survival. Moyes, to his credit, secured that within a month - just as Big Sam did in 2017. However, when the panic abates, owners want something more progressive and forward-looking. Managers are no longer prized for fire fighting, but are judged on ability to attract talent (glamour) and image (do they represent what the owners see in themselves and their "asset"?). Vanity. Moyes, for all his many attributes, is a stubborn old-school pragmatist. These are attributes in the right circumstances - like last season when fighting for our lives. They become obstacles in a calmer environment where possibilities expand and limits are less onerous as the spectre of relegation recedes.

I was suprised they had no "glamour" manager to come in and continue the job. I didn't see the status quo as a pragmatic choice from them (where they believed in Moyes as their man for the big job ahead). I saw it as evidence of lack of a plan. Since then, nothing they've done since has convinced me they are anything other than unprepared for the football side of the club.

It's quite clear that the cracks are now showing as Moyes pulls one way and the "competent professionals" pull the other way. There will be collateral damage to both sides along the way, but in the end the owners always win and we'll be plunged into mid-season instability as winter approaches rather than having an executable plan last May. See? Unprepared again...

At this point he's relatively unsackable as he knows how to keep a team in the premier league.

Im not totally sure he does have that power...if he ever did...and that maybe part of the problem

or somebody else bought Aznou - and Moyes took a look and didnt rate him.

Is he getting the...'you're the coach on big money - so coach him so he can play'

meet the new Boss(es) - Same as the old Boss(es) ??

Moyes signings: Grealish, KDH, Travers, King...Ake?

Club signings: Barry, Alcaraz, Aznou...Dibling?
