Side note, I’m still mystified what happened to him. He was a good player at Southampton, good for a month or two here, and then he must have had a lobotomy.

I watched Schniederlin when he first came to Southampton as a youngster and played with a host of inexperienced lads (including Lallana who was a self confessed Everton fan)
He grew into a very decent midfielder and many Saints fans couldnt work out why he failed to replicate his form on the South Coast at Goodison.
Same with Koeman. A very well regarded Manager at St Marys but didnt hit the high spots with Everton whereas the likes of Jimmy Gabriel and Peter Reid did OK on the South Coast.

That's the life cycle. Young player is "going to break into the first team next season", then they will be a "future international", then they're terrible and "not fit to wear the shirt", then they're "a rat" for moving to Sunderland/WBA/Brentford at the end of their contract on a free. We’ve had window after window of people saying we should be downing the next x player before they arrive at a PL team, we should take the risk, invest in youth etc.

All I’ve heard this window is how we should have bought players who can deliver in the PL now instead of buying potential.

They weren’t written off by the fans but I find it a sad indictment on Everton that in amongst all the attacking dross we’ve had playing for us that we had Moise Kean and Lookman on the books and neither of them were deemed good enough to barely get on the pitch yet went to Serie A and are now top players

2 - I've been on the internet now for longer than some of our members have been alive, my tolerance is at record lows these days.
3 - I'm a man and prone to knocking myself down your list at any moment. I'll cherish my placing while it lasts, I don't know how many more escalator gifs Google can supply me with.
