Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Playing Gana and Iroebugnum together killed any chance to progress the ball up the pitch. Garner is right footed, he receives the ball on the left side and he's naturally facing the center of the field. His options there are Gana, Iroebugnum, Keane and Pickford. None of those guys are passing the ball to the attacker without booting it. KDH was pushed further back in the midfield in the 2nd half and it was better, but even then we didn't need three in the midfield. Just one that could receive and progress the ball up the pitch.

KDH should have started where Iroebugnum did, and if we're not starting Grealish (which makes sense given his lack of pre-season) then you put McNeil in one of those spots.

As it was, our outlet for the first half was long balls to our RB. That doesn't seem like a winning formula.

….maybe a more appropriate discussion for the match thread rather than the transfer thread.

Moyes has to face the press end of the week. The preasure just goes up everyday and from everywhere till something changes.
I wish some our press would ask him some serious questions instead of the inevitable, "hoping for my signings david?"

ask him how everton can justify going into a season without a viable rb lb or rw

Yes, but too many people on here were building up their fantasies of Moyes deliberately not picking him. So maybe it's worth knowing that he is listed as injured.
Time for a conspiracy theory about how he's not ready and they're pretending he's injured to save face or something equally absurd.

A safe estimate, following the same Chelsea calculation was 60 millions (without the stadium)...so psr is not the issue here mate. I am not sure what it is, and i guess nobody really know apart from moyes and the recruitment team. It could be the lack of liquidity for the down payments, it could be the negotiations skills or lack off, It could be the entire recruitment strategy...many possible reasons, but psr is not one of them.
So if it's not PSR then why have our new owners, in their first window at the club, suddenly just decided that this rebuild is proving too costly.

They've shown themselves to have considerable spending power at Roma, what you're saying doesn't stand up to any kind of logic or common sense. They lose a lot more money if we go down.

We passed the ball to Garner a lot in the Leeds game..they pressed him aggressively knowing he has no left foot. He either gave the ball away or hurriedly passed it back to Keane.

He went narrow almost all game rather than go wide and potentially get beaten, which is fine defensively but hugely limited our attack.

Dan James looks a flat track championship bully.

Someone who endured the same 100 minutes of torture and was paying attention

Marinakis to me clearly has a grudge over their previous points deduction and wants to take a sledgehammer to all PL regulations. There's no way they will be compliant after all these purchases while only selling Elanga.

Obviously my goblin brain wants us to do the same thing but tbh probably better to see how it works out for them, if we deliberately breached PL would find a way to relegate us surely.
Can’t stand the fat mess but at least he’s giving it to the PL.

Might come back and bite him on his ample rear tho.

Its so strange that after that one performance, has left me so deflated around the whole club that i almost dont give a sh*t who we sign now.
Feel numb to it all
New ground
New owners
But it feels like we are experiencing exactly the same lowering of expectations we used to endure annually under Kenwright.
With Moyes as manager it’s deja vu .
It’s like being an Everton supporter means you have to endure a ritualistic crushing of all hope at the start of every season,
It’s what makes Everton, Everton .
( expect we are now paying far more for the dubious pleasure)

….somebody suggested Aznou is injured. I haven’t heard this officially but it makes sense given he was substituted after coming on against Roma.

Had Garner played in midfield and James given a free ride, Leeds might have been out of sight at half-time. As it was, Garner filled-in very well and nullified the threat of James.

I’m struggling to see what Moyes did wrong on this and why posters are so angry.
Anything might have happened but one thing is for sure, the tactics/formation we employed didn’t work at all, particularly in the first half. Garner did ok defensively but the formation-selection completely killed us as an attacking force in the first half. We barely strung two passes together and could get out. I would preferred an actual left footer on the left side. Probably KBH as a left wing back, Garner as right wing back, Gana Tim and NDiaye in the middle and Alcaraz behind Beto.
