Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I was in the same place around 2 years ago...surrounded by friends and family all supporting Liverpool, United etc...felt like " whats the point?"...did something very controversial but saved my mental health and pissed em all off:) Going to get slammed for this but started following a " second" team..a team that won, had money and none our issues...still loved Everton of course, never got " divorced" from Everton, just got to go out with a "fitter bird" every now and then. Made the weekends a little more enjoyable...ashamed to even share but it worked for me. ( tbf I was getting PTSD treatment for other things at the time).
Nothing to be ashamed of (as long as it's not you know who!), you've got to look after your health first. Stepping away from Everton is a logical choice if it's making you ill. Look after yourself, bud.

….somebody suggested Aznou is injured. I haven’t heard this officially but it makes sense given he was substituted after coming on against Roma.

Had Garner played in midfield and James given a free ride, Leeds might have been out of sight at half-time. As it was, Garner filled-in very well and nullified the threat of James.

I’m struggling to see what Moyes did wrong on this and why posters are so angry.
Well for one thing, when a player is injured, it is ok to share that with the fans .

….i’m not a James fan either but he was their most effective attacker last season.

Garner was MoM in our poll, so the switch worked, he’s also often criticised for his midfield performances.

I personally wouldn’t criticise Moyes for selecting Garner at LB but that’s my opinion, I’m actually surprised posters are questioning it but hey ho.
It worked in so far as he didn’t do anything wrong but the shape and balance of the team didn’t allow any of better players to get on the ball. I’ve also seen people say Keane was blameless. It’s true in so far as he didn’t make any howlers but having him on the pitch always results in us playing way too deep which just invites pressure. We genuinely couldn’t get out of our half at times in the first half and it was all down to set up.

Gotta do what's right for you brother. What was the team?

It's sad but Everton being gash genuinely does have quite a knock on effect to my mental health. That's one thing I've learned these last few seasons...

Which is why this current transfer window is a failure. We needed players in 3 weeks ago! Ffs.
Defo been there mate. Once I had kids I just started watching fewer games and engaging less with Everton news online and stuff. Couldn’t keep subjecting them to me being an arl grump of a weekend.

Still stings to see us lose/play crap now, but a few deep breaths and a couple of “it’s only a game”s later I’m usually back down to earth.

Funny old game, innit? Look after yourself mucker.

O'brien can handle it. He wasnt roasted by anyone playing there last year. He even got forward in games. Still need a right back mind. Garner is an absolute no. For all the rightful praise he got we basically gave leeds that side of the pitch. He stopped james pretty well but it nullified any link up play of Everton being a danger themselves. I found it painful to watch.
Given the choices as it stands of now we might have to go 3 at the back and Garner as a wingback on the right and Mcneil on the left. Not ideal but we cant just surrender one side of the pitch again.
All of this because we've havent sorted out what we all knew was a problem.
I think O'Brien and Ndiaye on the right is ok.
so we had the players to play

..........Pickford
JOB, Tark, Keane, Garner
...........KDH Gana
Ndiaye, Alkaraz, Grealish
...............Barry

Yeah, it's a shame Branthwaite/Myko/Aznou were out but there should have been enough to at least challenge leeds in the first half.
I think most of our issues were down to poor team selection/tactics, and coaching.
We could buy a new RB, LB, RW, Mid fielder and striker and it woudnt matter if the starting XI are told to sit deep and take the sting out of the game but arent capable of switching it up without a 15 min break and a lesson on a whiteboard.

James is a Huckerby/Chopra style player, great in the Championship, rubbish in the PL.

I'm more critical of Moyes with the choices he made elsewhere. I wouldn't have played Alcaraz on the right, I wouldn't have played Iroegbunam as a deep lying midfielder and I wouldn't have played Beto if the plan was to launch balls up the pitch, which definitely seemed to be the plan. But we can't keep playing with no full backs. It didn't work on Monday and it definitely won't work against better teams.

All this talk of lack of budget/ possible spending concerns due to PSR etc, is exactly why I’ve peddled for the last few days the need to sell a few players.

Yes squad is thin but I do believe a couple of dispensable player sales could help boost the remaining budget.

Beto, McNeil could raise what, 40+ ish mill?

If that meant our remaining budget went from say 40 to 80 million id take it if that meant we secured 3-4 players of a better calibre…
