Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We need to bullet the dibbling deal now. It's taking too long and apparently going to cost too much, which in theory could impact on other areas that need strengthening (bearing in mind even loans might need slight fees).

Kinnear and Hammond need to pivot and buy someone cheaper but equally as effective from Europe, for example Dilane Bakwa is available and probably about 10 million cheaper.

I also think if Moyes is set on Dibbling or he's insisting on PL experience (acknowledge this is speculation) then they need to grow a pair and tell him this lad fits the profile of what the team needs i.e. right sided and quick and we're buying him, so get on with it and if you don't like it hard luck. At the end of the day he should be no more than head coach.

I've no evidence for it, but despite his public statements I can't help think it's him that's complicating things and not compromising. I think that stance is all well and good when your a team near the top of the league that only needs 1/2 players, but our current level all you do is risk missing out on other decent players that could actually help.

Yes.

Was reported by paddy boyland that right back wasn’t seen as a priority weeks ago.

He says on his latest podcast that we’ve gone through our shortlist at right wing and I don’t see any interest in centre mids.

Also it’s the 20th of august and we haven’t seen any right backs, right wingers, or centre mids in the door.
How is this possible? Absolutely criminal

Gnonto and James looked dangerous for Leeds and they’re two players who a lot on here would turn their nose up at

I think you stick anyone with pace up against a reasonably slow midfielder at left back and they're gonna look decent, didn't see a lot from those 2 to suggest they won't get pocketed by semi competent defenders during the course of the season.

Dont get me wrong, in our current state I'd take any number of wingers with pace, but desperation sometimes makes average players look more attractive than they are.

Grealish was a cherry on the cake player, before they baked the cake.

Feel like they thought we should all be ecstatic with their premium loan they have pulled off. While Forest go about signing a load of players we actually should have prioritised.
100%. When you boil it down, they have only made two signings that can actually start right now for us in KDH and Grealish.

Anzou and Barry not ready for Moyes, two keepers…

No right side, arguably one of the worst midfields in the prem, a striker who is unable to control a football - when you spell it out it doesn’t look good does it..,

This summer was a great opportunity to refresh and I feel they are in the process of massively messing this chance up. It’s poor.

I also worry - more so after Monday - that being in protected 45/50million negotiations with a 19 year old prospect is all well and good…we aren’t in the position to spend that sort of money on someone who might not improve us that much short term, especially with so many other areas need fixing.

Everton…no one has the capacity to take any positivity out of a fanbase as much as this club. Grealish should have been the pinnacle with fans buzzing…lasted barely 24 hours 🤦‍♂️

I don’t remember either of them putting a decent ball in, they worked hard and got them up the pitch but we need more quality than them, really.

I think we've moved on from Dibling, I haven't seen any solid rumours on it for a couple of weeks. The last time reputable sources were reporting on us making an offer was the 4th August.

Which is why I think Moyes is being awkward. It shouldn't be this difficult to get someone else in in the last fortnight since the Dibbling stuff broke down. We clearly have some money left to spend so something is off.

So no!
We bid for a rb, we will continue to source and buy more players.

I expect nothing until the last 2/3 days. And then it'll be odds and ends from the bargain basement.

I certainly wouldn't rule out the likes of Vardy.

The club is like an engine encased in rust and they've applied a couple of sprays of WD to it when we really need a new engine.

We're in a lot of trouble now. No more Goodison to get us the atmosphere to make a few points more that could be crucial.

That Leeds game in front of a global audience has shattered the positive optics of the season end.

Truth is, Branthwaite and Mykolenko play then a decent chance we get a better result.

But we need a RW to even field a decent 1st team, injuries aside. Then with injuries our patched up team looks inadequate.
Not overly convinced. Bar VAR, our defence was fine.

Wasn't Tete actually the first signing on the cards over the summer? This isn't creating a fiction is it. Then he was offered more to stay in London, so he did.
I find it great that Moyes carries the can for a side with so many ooc, devoid of width and pace, and other clubs valuing their stars in astronomical measures.

Gnonto and James looked dangerous for Leeds and they’re two players who a lot on here would turn their nose up at but you cannot beat a bit of pace out wide, it forces mistakes from the opposition defence and has them sitting a few yards deeper. Their defence just went tight to Ndiaye and Alcaraz because they knew they would be going backwards or infield with their first touches.
If you swapped Ndiaye and Alcaraz with Gnonto and James do you think the outcome would have been different?

Just do not understand people saying our problem on Monday was a lack of pace or not running at the opposition when our system was so obviously dysfunctional and easy to play against.

You put Gnonto and James into our side on Monday and they wouldn’t do a thing because we couldn’t get the ball to players in threatening positions and our fullbacks couldn’t offer any support.

We need balance rather than just blindly putting pace into a side where you can’t actually utilise it.
