Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

Early in the window, he'd be over £30m now. There's better value earlier in the window and with proper preparation, despite what some would have you believe.
Based on what? Sunderland overpaid for one of Brightons reserves, that’s all that happened there.

Palace aren’t linked to him and even so would be just as reluctant to agree to the 25% sell on as we have been

I'm hoping we pull an ace out the bag from somewhere tbh, the whole deal with Dibling is just a bit too expensive imo, we are getting into similar numbers as being talked about in regards to Eze yet there is an absolute chasm between the two players in terms of ability.
You’ve missed out the word “proven”. Dibling has bucket loads of ability, that is blatantly obvious. He’s being valued at 50 million at 19 years of age, Eze at the same age was farmed out by QPR to Wycombe Wanderers on loan.

People are being too short sighted here, Southampton are right to value their biggest talent at 50 million. We’d be demanding that too at the very least.

Biggest disappointment of the window this.

I could take the strange and downright peculiar transfers weve done this summer.

Also probably the shocking failures to improve the weak areas.

But to be 'close' to signing Dibling and then not proceed and get it over the line.

Hugely disappointing and tarnishes the window.

Agree. How many times have we seen us being interested in the talented players only to see them flourish elsewhere? I remember when we wouldn’t pay a 20m fee for Maddison at Norwich and Maddison wasn’t even close to Dibling in terms of ability and potential. Leicester paid it and they then doubled their money selling him to Spurs for 40. It’s as plain as the nose on your face that Dibling would be a shrewd investment and has the potential to explode with a good club in the next few years. People keep saying it’s a gamble, is it really? I can’t see him flopping to the point he wouldn’t even at least hold his current value. The boy is going places, he’s a very talented player.
I reckon we cant afford him based on what's left and what Southampton are asking.
Agree with this too. Kinnear and Hammond are coming in for a lot of stick here, but to be fair, we don’t know what budget they’re dealing with. I’m not convinced the money from the owners is there to do this deal either. We’ve already spent a chunk of coin without bringing any in, we might already be close to the net spend budget for this year. None of us know.

We also still don’t know whether the money IS there, but we’re still sailing close to PSR and doing as much as we can within those boundaries. Citizens of Suburbia on X is of that train of thought and he’s usually very good with crunching the numbers.

So why did we spend £4 million on a goalkeeper that we all hope never plays.

Absolutely no issue with Southampton for putting whatever valuation the want on the kid..

He may turn out to be a Bale in which case the valuation is reasonable. He might turn out to be a Ravel Morrison in which case they will have pulled everyone's pants down.

The problem I have is with Everton.

When we need so many players in different positions with a presumed limited budget ( PSR or actual ) it is madness that we are still apparently trying to do this deal instead of killing it stone dead and getting deals done with other clubs.
