2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

Not a winger - plus Pickford's pass to him was suicidal - He had our only shot on goal - yeshe slipped, but that pass to him with an attacker breathing down his neck was the start of that pen !

….if you’re a forward, you should be looking after that ball in the position he was in. I didn’t think the pass was ‘suicidal’, I’d be expecting to receive the ball into me like that. He seemed to lose his footing which didn’t help but that was because he chose to spin rather than getting hold of it or laying the ball off.

Eggs if you slip there is not much you can do about it, it's not like the Beto one last year which cannoned off his shins, it's a slip, not as bad as Steve Gerrards slip, but a slip all the same, that can happen to anyone.

Constantly slipped. Wrong studs. Sack the kit man.

…agree, it’s unfortunate. Looked to me that the the slip was a result of the attempted spin, he could’ve been safe, though, in securing it or laying it off. Maybe telling that Moyes then replaced him. Beto’s one at Chelsea was solely down to mis control.

….his inability to support his full backs in the first half left us very vulnerable. Ball watching, struggling to go with his runners I wasn’t surprised Moyes kept switching him and wondered if he might get pulled at half-time.

Moyes eventually moved him central where he looks much more comfortable but his failure to look after the ball and that slip cost us dearly. Not a good night for the lad.
He's not a winger, he should never have been put in that position, but recruitment has been so poor that there were few good options. I feel sorry for the lad, as you could see he was busting a gut, but he just didn't know what he was doing out there.
