Didnt think he was any better or worse than the rest of the forward options. Like Ndiaye absolutely nothing to work with in fullbacks over lapping. And like Ndiaye spent a lot of the game chasing back.
Thought like most he put a shift in. But the whole side lacked quality. Wouldnt single him out.

….his inability to support his full backs in the first half left us very vulnerable. Ball watching, struggling to go with his runners I wasn’t surprised Moyes kept switching him and wondered if he might get pulled at half-time.

Moyes eventually moved him central where he looks much more comfortable but his failure to look after the ball and that slip cost us dearly. Not a good night for the lad.

Should never be put on the right. Been obvious since last season. Sets him up to fail. Much better centrally.

Every time the team loses, it's always 'that guy messed up the defense' - like he's the only one responsible for the whole match.
Funny how the only guy putting in the work, creating chances and hitting the target ends up being the scapegoat.

Personally thought garner looked totally at sea in that first half and was really poor (again, not blaming him for that as out of position). The amount of times he dived in to try and cut it out and missed out was appalling. Improved a lot second half though.

I thought Charly worked hard but it just wasn’t coming off. Get a RW in and he drops to the bench and can become that impact player that can carry the ball out after 70 mins (like vs palace last season).

Sorry mate but thats again nonsense about Garner in comparison to this. I cant praise garner enough for doing a bit of an alan harper role. Right back. Left back. Along the midfield. Jack of all trades but master of none. He never did the full role coz surprise surprise hes hes not an attacking left back. The defensive side he did. Alcaraz put a shift in in a position that isnt his natural posution. Why is he not granted the same.
I dont like to use the word scapegoat but i agree with the poster above in this thread. Ive noticed he is a bit of a quick to go to for blame shifting.

Only outfield player who showed a modicum of positive body language and proper attitude. Wanted the ball and showed some composure on it, got stuck in off the ball and never seemed to give up the fight. Made one glaring error in the middle of the park (which he does have a habit of doing) but otherwise don't think he was any worse than anyone else when taking the full 90 into account.

Like a few players I think he suffered more due to our tactics and complete lack of shape or structure, rather than for want of effort or ability. Ended up playing in 4 separate positions during the game - proof we didn't have a solid gameplan.

Not a winger - plus Pickford's pass to him was suicidal - He had our only shot on goal - yeshe slipped,but that pass to him with an attacker breathing down his neck was the start of that pen !

I did enjoy him momentarily forgetting what league he's in and asking the ref for a card. He's a bit of a nutcase haha

There are flashes of good play but I can see why he's never been at a club for a long time. He seems more like an impact player in the PL rather than a starter.

I honestly don't think he's good enough to start regularly. He just doesn't do enough for me and its why I think it was a difficult decision whether or not to keep him.

I'm not his biggest fan – I think he's technically pretty Doucoure. But he worked hard in the second half. A bit like... erm... Doucoure.
