2025/26 Adam Aznou

….that would make sense given its unusual to sub the sub.

Regardless, Garner played well, he didn’t let anybody down.
This, Garner playing at left back wasent why we lost he did well.

I also see everyone saying, they couldn't work out who was going to play left back, was it just me who thought it would be Garner

No animosity against this young lad whatsover.
It is the clubs arrogance to be taking punts on "ones for the future" when we are where we are.
A journeyman proven left back is what we needed at this point as cover.....same as on the right. Kyle Walker and others deemed not good enough eh?
We are not good enough to be signing "hopefuls" yet......that comes later when the ship has steadied.
To go in to the first game of a premiership season with that side last night was damning on our bosses.

Which is exactly why Moyes has a cheek to moaning about lack of signings. He said absolutely nothing when Kenwright was selling off our best players year-on-year to pay off the banks and Philip Green. Because he knew his position was infallible whilst Billy Liar was owner. Now that there's a proper structure who will hold a manager to account for bad results he's flipping out and blaming everything else.

He took him off in the friendly last week, so its pretty obvious he picked up some sort of injury
Not necessarily, he got far more minutes than expected seeing as he came off the bench early so could easily have just been a replacement to have a look at other options. Not like a Kean subbing was it?

Garner at LB didn’t really cost us in itself, he did well, but the absence of Garner in midfield definitely did. He’s not spectacular but his stock definitely rises when he’s not there.

why did Adam Asnou not feature for Everton against Leeds?

Adam Aznou was absent from Everton’s match against Leeds United due to an injury, and was therefore not included in the match-day squad. Everton’s official communication confirmed his unavailability, alongside other defensive absences, forced manager David Moyes to reorganize the backline, deploy James Garner at left-back, and adapt his selection accordingly.

I thought the whole defensive unit was fine tbh. They had an awful lot to deal with especially the first half and that was due to us being totally overrun in midfield and conceding possession which made it a back’s against the wall performance. None of the defenders made glaring errors.

We’re absolutely desperate for an injection of quality in midfield because if we don’t, we’ll lose that midfield battle all season long.

Moyes has to grow a pair and trust Armstrong, a player that is technically good and can control and progress a football, rather than ignore him due to his birth certificate.

Only Everton could finally buy a replacement left back only for both the first choice and reserve to get injured at the same time in pre season. Seriously what is our sports science department doing.
