2025/26 David Moyes

Something fundamentally wrong in the club. Different owners, numerous different managers, a whole host of different players. All with the same underwhelming result.

It looked like Moyes was what we required - steady hand to see us into the new stadium then he departs and we get a new manager.

The way it's worked out is that Moyes and his ego are contributing to whatever bad decisions those above him are making.

He needs to keep quiet now and let the recruitment team do their best and then work with what he's been given.

If he cant do that, get shut.

Doesn't say much for the leadership if they can't lead. It's alright getting the manager's opinion, but if they are letting him dither and slow down/scupper deals, it's on them, not the manager. They should have been clear on that from day 1. I get the feeling they are happy for him to take the lead and ultimately have his neck on the chopping block.

Oh, I don’t know. I’m giving him plenty of blame for having not coached the team properly. He has no excuse for how unfit and tactically poor we were.
Oh I agree but Moyes won't be taking blame for it... He doesnt, I don't recall a single time he mentioned himself for the fault of a lack of style, passing back..

The ref, the linesman, fitness, lack of options... Broken promises etc.
As I said, the board will have to buy players now, then it's on Moyes if we don't improve.... Even he will have to own up then.

Moyes did a great job last season. Yesterday's performance was his fault though. With his weird positional choices he made the team feel uneasy. O Neill as a LB would have ment a leftie at LB. This gets you better distribution since a rightfooted player is not able to pass along the line. Every ball through the middle is very easy to defend and very risky when you lose the ball. If O Neill would have played then Garner could have moved to CM instead of Tim (who just isnt good enough). The other option was to just start Jack and move KDH to the CM. Also his (lack of) substition(s) was horrendous. Beto should have been taken off for Barry. We bought a 30mil striker who doenst even get a chance when our current striker plays one of his worst games ever.

We all know the squad is incomplete as it is. Its Moyes his job to get the best results with what we do have though. Yesterday he fell short.

He wasn't their first choice don't forget, apparently their first choice to replace Dyche was in a role and unavailable and Moyes was and with the new stadium move a short term contract was handed too him for a transitional period.

The club will have to carry on the next two weeks acting over the head of the manager and plan for the new manager who will arrive VERY shortly if Moyes doesn't do his job and do the best with what he's been handed.

That can be the only outcome now.

The pressure should now come right down on Moyes to GTF on with it. That call has to come from the Friedkins.

It's not ideal and Moyes should be signing players, but that's not the case and he agreed to sign up to this as he did at WHU, so he needs to STFU and get on with it or he's gone.

He's no SAF who can call the shots, even if he thinks he is.

I'll give you that one like. I'm not keen how much Input he's apparently having on recruitment. It's a symptom of the situation with fellas still on gardening leave.

Given the lifecycles of managers it shouldn't be on them and it's how you end up with a Frankenstein's squad of different managers players.

I hate the word but by next summer hopefully it's settled down and we've decided on a 'philosophy' and the manager is just a 'head coach' in effect and if they ain't delivering they go. But the recruitment process stays the same.

For Everton it's not hard to recruit for either. In general we like direct (not long ball) fast football. Get it wide, physical strikers, the odd technical ball player but not a team of crabs.

Is there really something wrong with the club or have we just spent hardly any money in the past few seasons compared to other clubs? Let's be honest, we're also well past the point that anyone outside of Everton finds this underwhelming. It's where we are and have been as a club for a long time.

The old phone it in mentality monster that has plagued this squad was on show last night, you can pick the performance apart any way want from a number of different angles, but pure and simple Leeds our fought us and wanted it more - unacceptable as a minimum.

That's an attitude and mentality piece, Moyes needs to get on top of it and quick - its let down plenty of managers here in their second full seasons.

Spot on

They were on it from the beginning whilst we didn’t seem interested.

They only won with a dodgy pen but we can’t complain when players put in a low intensity performance like that

100% mate.

You can have all the Grealish and biggest squad in the world, if you don’t win your personal battles and are out fought you don’t earn the foundation to show your quality.

Everton were out fought last night, baseline unacceptable. Moyes needs to get on that.

Some need dropping on Sunday for the performances posted.

Moyes needs to show a lot more this season otherwise, rightly, he'll get the chop.

We're absolutely crying out for a head coach who's obsessed with the details who'll coach this lot to play good, effective football until it near kills them.
