Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Our recruitment has been a mess again

No strategy or plan. No prioritising the key positions. Just a collection of players including 2 back up keepers for some bizarre reason.

I find it incredible how the club can be so bad at identifying the key issues. Some of these positions have been huge weaknesses for years.

It's not asking a lot for a plan, some proactive decisions and a bit of urgency. Improving this squad is not that difficult. It's really average.

Sunderland have managed to sign players who would walk into our squad and improve it.

We on the other hand seem happy to fanny about and give sentimental contracts out to players like Coleman who are of absolutely no use on the playing side.

They better get busy and quick otherwise they are setting the tone for failure again.

I had us finishing anywhere between 12th to 16th at best, but after last night not even sure about that.

Clubs a mess.
I was told on here Xhaka wouldn't get into our team yesterday.

🤷‍♂️

It is only one game, so panic stations are not needed yet, but looking at last night's game the worrying thing for me is how much more Leeds wanted to win that game more than us. This must change and that is down to David Moyes and his coaching staff, we have looked so under cooked in pre season and that continued during the first half of that game last night, we were disgraceful, all over the place and yes we have a couple of injuries and are waiting for more signings, but at the very least we could have looked like we wanted to be there and looked like we wanted to compete..we didn't.

I do agree, he`s a Marcus Bent type striker, who needs balls to run onto.so that he can run with the ball at defenders and harry them all game and we didn`t see one game last season where didn`t give 100%.

One thing he can`t do, is hold the ball up when it`s lumped up to him, so why we did that all game last night is beyond me.

If he`s fallen out with Moyes, why did Moyes play him over Barry, makes no sense at all ?

I know Barry is new to the league, but he`d have been a better option, than a sulky Beto ( if that was the case ) ?

Barry in pre season looked miles better than Beto did, and actually looked in the Roma game to interlink with KDH already.

27m quid, a full pre season and a good season starting in la liga for a CL qualifying side in Villarreal. A less cautious manager would have been starting him.

Old man Vardy would still be our fastest player, no surprise if he’s linked today
I know its a stop gap signing and will undoubtedly rile a lot on here but he has pace and is a differebt option to Beto/Barry who aren't exactly the answer right now. On a short deal for free makes sense to me, so clearly won't happen.

For the record, I've been jokingly saying we should sign him all summer as a wind up to some inflammatory posters on here. However watching Beto flounder last night has changed my stance, now im serious. (But still looking for a rise! )

Won there first game 3-0, third goal scored by a lad who started last season but was replaced so now a bench player. Day after they win they go out and buy a backup right back/CB from psg and are now trying to get another CB and the winger from Leicester...

What really frustrates me is we’ve known about these issues since last summer. Everyone has known. I’m not buying the excuse that the owners and the teams they’ve brought in are still settling in. These are supposed to be professional football people, the kind who’ve been in the game long enough to know what they’re doing. They didn’t just wake up this summer and suddenly start in football, they’ve got networks, experience, and knowledge, or meant to have.

Now, it’s time to step up. They need to put their money where their mouth is. We need at least two right-sided attackers, a central midfielder, and a defender in this week, with maybe another striker before the window closes at the very least.

I said I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until the end of the window, but after watching that last night, one shot on target against Leeds ffs, I just want to see a competent team that I can actually get behind. You can’t spend nearly a billion on a new stadium, get the support behind you and then field a team like last night. Be arsed having to deal with another season like the last few.

The starting line up yesterday was similar to the car crash of the team that Dyche put out against Brighton at the start of last season. As soon as everyone saw the team it instantly rang alarm bells. Moyes needs to send out a team out on Sunday to try and win the game. If Mykolenko isn't fit then he needs to play with McNeil and Garner as wing backs. Far from ideal, but better than the dogs dinner of a formation he tried yesterday. He also needs to throw new signings in. Barry is young and energetic with a point to prove. Moyes needs to throw him in. Same with Grealish. He's had a week training with us and Moyes gives him half an hour in a game where we've set up the team to cling on for a dour 0-0. Moyes keeps talking about changing the mentality of the club and serves up that abysmal performance last night. Nowhere near acceptable.

Unfortunately that's where it is heading... but at more expense to us all.
