2025/26 Adam Aznou

What is the script with the New Zealand stuff?

I guess they're saying he got outplayed in this game:

The Exceptional Operators did because they felt he was the answer.
So you've highlighted an issue if thats the case.

Our recruitment team isn't running parallel with the manager.

I personally don't trust the Corporate Middle manager brought in above Moyes.

They will be driven by a need to impress the overlords back in Texas,Moyes just wants a team that will compete.

He isn't making decisions based on ego in my opinion, but I think he is trying to apply pressure in certain places which he's right to do.

My belief is that a manager should be the person recruiting.

However, he's agreed to a job where he knows there'll be a committee above him. And he had players bought for him at WHU I believe.

Maybe it's just here he thinks he makes every decision?

He has an inflated opinion of his standing at this club, that's for sure.

He'll find out how much credibility and status he's really got if he's not careful.

You could be right but maybe after him spending a couple of hours with David Brent and his slick do'd sidekick,Moyes has thought these 2 ain't up to scratch.

I think Moyes sussed them out quickly and had decided to go in early in the press to apply maximum pressure on them to get recruitment sorted.

Whether we like Moyes or not he's been round the block enough times to know blaggers in the game and I think he knows Kinnear and Hammond are blaggers.

You only had to see Kinnear cobble together that "Everything is fine" interview after Moyes said recruitment was behind...He knows Moyes is on to him.

The average premier league manager has a job for about 16 months. Be crazy to give a manager full say on the transfers as they’re going to be thinking short term to try and keep themselves in a job longer and once they’re booted a new manager will have to try and make a team from the previous managers players.

Feels like there’s a fair bit of conflict of the direction the club should take behind the scenes.

If that's the case then we ARE knackered for sure.

That spells disaster. A house divided against itself etc.

The manager will be gone in short order under those circumstances and we'll have sleepwalked through this window into oblivion.

Moyes' job is to get us safe in a very difficult first season in a new stadium. He's jeopardising that.

...and at the very worst time for us.

There'll be no guaranteed Goodison factor of 10 unlikely points won here at this new stadium.

We are very vulnerable now.

The manager should have an important say in current transfers, as it is they who need to integrate them into the squad and apply them to his tactics.

However, as shown with other clubs, it can't solely be the manager because a) it's too large a job, and b) it isn't conducive to longevity, as you stated.

You need a robust recruitment department who are really looking into the data, analysing trends and identifying long-term requirements for the club.

For all we know, Aznou may have been purchased as one for the future: a player we can develop. Other clubs do it, so why shouldn't we?

The issue is that we need players now and the zeitgeist is that everyone we bring in should be starting, or that's my take on the general view.

While it's far from ideal, the appointments behind the scenes are going to take a time to implement a strategy, which sadly looks like to have limited us now.

Just playing devil advocate here.

Let's say you where Moyes and your remit was to get us safe this season but the fellas you where trusting with recruitment and negotiations weren't bringing you the tools, how would you play it?

I think he's in tough spot Moyes...I think he knows he's in the hands of people he can't trust.
