Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I've tried hard not to whinge about the lack of signings but we are reaching the point of no return.

My concern is the premier league are corrupt and there is no way the same 3 promoted teams are getting relegated again this season, not a chance. It drew far too much attention last season with the pattern it's becoming.
Mark my words, we will have at least one, possibly two teams going down who were not promoted last season.
A few injuries, which we will get (JB now) and we could struggle.
I honestly can't believe we haven't signed a decent right back, a proper right back, not a stop gap that we have now. I love JOB but he's not a right back. He's ok defending, but you need a right back who can get forward and link up play as well, he doesn't.
What has the premier league done since May that would prevent all the promoted teams going down again after the past two seasons?

We've 5 number 10s and a manger who doesn't know how to use them.

Sounds familiar.

Who are these 5 number 10s you are referring to?

Its nowhere near the same issue as a few years ago as klaasen, sigurdsson and Rooney to some extent at that point in his career only worked in one position.

I presume the 5 you are referring to are Alcaraz, N'diaye, Grealish, KDH and McNeil? All except Alcaraz are better deployed in a different position.

Why Moyes insists on putting alcaraz on the right, I don't know. We would have been far better, even with garner at left back. Starting with KDH next to gueye, Alcaraz in the 10 and McNeil on the right.

Yes, I've wondered that for years. It doesn't make sense to me.
They can change it when they like, they did for those few who just played in that jarg club World Cup.
So why not just open it earlier and close it the day before the season starts.

It works best for the richest clubs. Both to make purchases and facilitate loans to the plebs.

Ironically may actually help us sign Dibbles if Soton panic.

An equal playing field is not favored.

It wasn't meant to be like this.

It was supposed to be an unprecedented summer where loads left and loads arrived to improve the squad's quality.

Loads have gone, but loads haven't arrived to replace them, and those that have dont look like the required quality on current evidence.

All the game playing by the manager needs to end. That will help us in the last 2 weeks before the window shuts.

It's now about getting a squad together to survive.

That's where we are. The priority has changed from a once-only sling shot to a new era to making sure we can do what we did for the last few seasons and survive...this time in unfamiliar surroundings.

I'm sorry to say, that's where we are now.

They did try it for one season, problem was only the premier league did it- so players could still be sold abroad after the window had closed for English sides- it just didn’t really work. It needs uefa to change the window for all European sides which they won’t do.

Sunderland have managed to sign players who would walk into our squad and improve it.

We on the other hand seem happy to fanny about and give sentimental contracts out to players like Coleman who are of absolutely no use on the playing side.

They better get busy and quick otherwise they are setting the tone for failure again.

I had us finishing anywhere between 12th to 16th at best, but after last night not even sure about that.

Clubs a mess.

It's kind of weird that we all know what is needed but the people in charge don't seem to get the deals over the line. It's ok to play hardball and you don't want to waste money. On the other hand if time after time you miss out on players because you insist on playing hardball, you have to scratch yourself behind the ears and think about what you are doing wrong. If we would have offered a bit more money we could have had Dibling and Douglas Luiz on the pitch yesterday. On top of that, we all knew that we needed a RB somewhere last summer already. Why is it so hard to follow up on that insanely easy insight? And I rather have we overspent on top targets than getting another 2 Jack Harrisons in because we dont get the top targets over the line over a couple of mil.

But then the other difficult part: Moyes needs to actually put the newcomers in the starting lineup...

Fairly sure the deadline to register new players to play against Brighton would be 12pm Thursday as there’s a game Friday night. I’d be amazed if anyone was brought in by Thursday lunch time.
It will be Friday for us just like last week. Anyway to play Sunday for us they would need to be signed by tomorrow in my opinion.

My issue with Beto is he looks disinterested both when we had it and more worryingly when we don't, last season the one thing you could rely on is he'd busy a guy all game long, last night he barely broke into a jog....

Not sure what changed but the effort is what elevated him to bring an ok striker, without it he's garbage - bit I'd take any offer over 20 for him in a heartbeat now

I do agree, he`s a Marcus Bent type striker, who needs balls to run onto, so that he can run with the ball at defenders and harry them all game and we didn`t see one game last season where didn`t give 100%.

One thing he can`t do, is hold the ball up when it`s lumped up to him, so why we did that all game last night is beyond me.

If he`s fallen out with Moyes, why did Moyes play him over Barry, makes no sense at all ?

I know Barry is new to the league, but he`d have been a better option, than a sulky Beto ( if that was the case ) ?

Vardy would've stretched that Leeds defence. Im past even joking about signing him now, becomes our best striker immediately. That's a damning indictment of our current forward options too by the way.
Old man Vardy would still be our fastest player, no surprise if he’s linked today
