Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I said this last night but I’ll say it again…

I honestly feel the budget left wouldn’t come close to addressing the gaps we have.

Although it makes the squad smaller temporarily, I genuinely feel we need to try & sell a few that are replaceable.

Any from Beto, Mykolenko, McNeil, Patterson, Chermiti could increase budget fairly significantly. (I’m not saying all of them)

Even just Beto & McNeil could probably then give us an increased budget to go after a RB, LB, RW, CM, ST of better quality without then missing those 2 players.

I just don’t see how a current budget being swallowed up by say a Dibbling, still allows us to bring in other quality players we still desperately need.

Budget needs a big top up!

Who are the sacrificial lambs?!

We don't need to sell in order to spend money. Our problem is how we go about spending our money. We have money, we just spend it on crap players, or stock up in areas that we already have good players so that we can continue to neglect areas that have been neglected for decades.

We haven't signed a proper right back in decades, and when we tried to, someone got it into their head that Nathan Patterson was a good investment, based on what exactly, only God knows!

If we are lucky enough to get hold of Brownhill, watch him and James Garner keep 28 million pound Dewsbury-Hall on the bench!

Think using the words elite players for a elite stadium is going to come back and bite us we look so poor, 2 wingers a right back. A dm a box to box midfielder and a quality striker with a different profile to Beto needed Asap.
A midfielder who can pull the strings set the tempo , hold the ball when needed move the ball when needed not sure if Hall if he is played deeper can do that but odd that he started so far forward last night

We've 5 number 10s and a manger who doesn't know how to use them.

Sounds familiar.

Still baffles me that the window is not closed before the season starts, they need to find a way to fix this across europe. Makes the first 3 games a lottery when squads are not finalised, imagine we do miraculously sign a starting RW, RB and striker, and then hammer one of Leeds relegation rivals in a couple of weeks time - huge advantage to Leeds playing a team that has not finalised its squad yet.

Similarly a poor start from a money team gives chance to kneejerk and drop 100m on someone.
Yes, I've wondered that for years. It doesn't make sense to me.
They can change it when they like, they did for those few who just played in that jarg club World Cup.
So why not just open it earlier and close it the day before the season starts.

I think Beto has proved that given the right service and playing to his strengths, he will score goals in the Premier League, after all he did score quite a few last season, so we do have a proven striker.

Barry as yet is an unknown, but he scored a fair few in La Liga and looks well suited to the Prem.

We won’t be buying another striker, especially with all those holes to fill on the right hand side.
Beto can score but when we are up against like we will be in loads of games he's usless , he cant hold a ball he has no strength to sheild it and i understand a lot of the balls int him are poor but he doesnt seem to move from the defender marking him look at Richarlison Saturday coming back into space to receive the ball and have time to control it and move it on

Thought Barry looked good immediately dropping deep to provide an option before quickly getting back up top.

Thats what was odd i think Moyes is said to have said that Beto needs to work on holding the ball up i was surprised he started with him last night but i cant blame him all the time as the passing is poor we cant seem to pass and move its seems 2-3 touches every time and always sideways or backwards

I've tried hard not to whinge about the lack of signings but we are reaching the point of no return.

My concern is the premier league are corrupt and there is no way the same 3 promoted teams are getting relegated again this season, not a chance. It drew far too much attention last season with the pattern it's becoming.
Mark my words, we will have at least one, possibly two teams going down who were not promoted last season.
A few injuries, which we will get (JB now) and we could struggle.
I honestly can't believe we haven't signed a decent right back, a proper right back, not a stop gap that we have now. I love JOB but he's not a right back. He's ok defending, but you need a right back who can get forward and link up play as well, he doesn't.

Let's get this right.

1. We went into the season without a right winger, right back and proven striker.
2. (I guess) the board thought we could patch a team together to get a result/results in the first game(s).
3. When we saw the teamsheet most of us knew what was coming.
4. We looked like a bad Sunday league team in the first half.
5. We improved slightly in second half yet didn't genuinely test their keeper at all over 97 minutes.
6. We've now started the season with a completely avoidable defeat and our numerous problem areas are starker than they've ever been.
7. We now have 6 days until a historic game in our new stadium.

Surely, surely the recruitment team isn't going to send these same players into another defeat against Brighton?

The only thing I take from a continued inability to bring in players is that actually maybe we somehow don't have any money and won't be signing anybody else—there is no explanation for failure over 2-3 months to close these positions.
I think we have some money, and some PSR headroom. Not loads.

Issue for me was always going to be that we need players better than we have to get us up the table. So, a few new players capable of playing for top half teams right now, not after 2 years development.

No agent of this level of player, particularly if young, is saying “if you go to this bottom half team, you will help make them a top half team.” They will instead get them into a team already at that level, that will pay that money, even if not a starter.

Fofana’s agent said he is good enough to “enter the rotation” at the RS. No intention of being a starter. Just want to pretend he’s in the mix with Salah etc. Might get a couple of medals.

Players only care about the stadium and our history 5 minutes after they have signed for us and that lad asks them, let’s be honest.

It’s not all our fault, it’s the way players operate now, and we have fallen out of the bracket of being attractive at precisely the wrong time. Simultaneously we have vowed to stop overpaying players to tempt them here, and the league has rules in place to stop us spending our own money anyway.

We need to get a bit lucky with a purchase that turns out to be a superstar, or stumble onto a manager than massively makes the team better than the sum of its parts.

Need signings in before the Brighton game and Moyes needs to give his head a wobble with his coaching.

If we don’t sort things out we’ll get pasted by Brighton in our first game at the new stadium
Fairly sure the deadline to register new players to play against Brighton would be 12pm Thursday as there’s a game Friday night. I’d be amazed if anyone was brought in by Thursday lunch time.
