Always liked Moyes, but his style of play is no longer tenable; we we’re totally played off the pitch and deserved nothing. KDH was too high up the pitch and it should have been him receiving the ball off the centre backs - having our play build up 75% of the time from Keane, Tarkowski and Pickford lumped balls is never going to work. We need to start actually playing football not speculative lump ball to a lone, and very average lump.

KDH deeper getting on the ball more, Ndiaye closer looking to receive, Grealish starting and less fannying around between the keeper and centre backs. This century style, not last would be a start.

I think as soon as we all saw the team we all thought oh dear but I never ever would have thought it would have been that bad. We essentially have been told we are doing a reset and we would see a different team without DCL’s and Doucoure’s, I’m telling you what we could of done with both of them last night. How are we still having like 1 shot on target in a full 90 minutes. Embarrassing.

Final thoughts…

We failed to prepare properly during pre season.
The team selection and set up tonight was weird and unacceptable.
The transfer market (so far) has lacked proper strategy and thought.
There seems to be discord within the club… arguments about recruitment. The mole etc etc

Tonight’s performance and result should not be a surprise.

When Kinnear was at Leeds I was never a fan. He is very cautious . Glad you've got him. Thought we played well in 1st half . I think we have bought well our main defender was banned tonight I think we will need him on Saturday at Arsenal . I thought Pirio played well he hasn't got electric pace but was a good focal point and didn't seem overwhelmed by the step up. Early days we are a work in progress I think West Ham,Wolves and Brentford are in the strugglers mix as well. Its going to be tough but we have better players than Bielsa. Apart from Raphinha.

She's not here anymore. But she would be disappointed. Not spoken to my brother who is also from the dark side of the family but I'm sure he will say we were the better team on the night. New striker coming in from Milan might give us the pace we need. Survival is important and grinding out results. Big test on Saturday will give us an idea of where we are.

….can only hope Moyes has a master plan in mind where his new signings blend and are on the same wavelength in terms of attacking cohesion and threat. I’m underwhelmed with both KDH and Grealish but it’s early days and I understand the formation needs to settle into whatever Moyes has in mind.

In the meantime, waking up with that ‘morning after a defeat’ feeling and not enjoying Everton. We don’t ask for much.
