2025/26 David Moyes

I think we’ve once again treated preseason like a fitness exercise and it isn’t, it’s practice for football, passing, movement, getting back up to speed with the rhythm of a season.

I heard Graner speaking a couple of weeks back that they hadn’t done any tactical work yet, no instructions, just fitness.

That always worries me.

They don’t support one another on the ball, there’s no movement off the ball. They should be showing for each other and giving plenty of options for every pass. That’s a practice thing.

Moyes is a dinosaur.

Boot camp in Italy was his stock in trade first time around - players spewing up with exhaustion.

He's just not cut out for the modern world of coaching.

That'd be bad enough, but now he seems to believe he's untouchable because he won a 💩 euro trophy with West Ham and seemingly feels he should be allowed to make every decision at the club again like it's 2002.

Absolute stinker from Moyes tonight. Selection, set up, tactics all wrong. He’s got the penalty to moan about though
He’s made a mistake on selection and allowed the LB problem to disrupt both defence and the midfield.

The bigger problem was the lack of connection between the players on the ball and the rest of the team looking for the ball.

That has nothing to do with selection or tactics and has been a feature of preseason no matter who plays where.

It’s obvious they’ve left the momentum of last season behind and did laps and drills instead of any kind of coaching.

They kept going back to the keeper because they weren’t showing for each other and making options.

Dealt a really bad hand for me going into the first game without either the new fillers or the new starters in key areas. But as one of the most experienced PL managers ever……why do none of our players move at all when we have a throw in. We bring Beto deep and he has a player stood on his toes and one climbing on his back and still throw it to him.

It’s a small thing, but all other teams have players moving around, one coming short whilst another spins behind etc. Indicative of what we are working on. Or not .

I think I’m glad he is here for the transition period. But my god do we need a detail obsessed flair merchant next.

Totally agree. We just do the simple basic things wrong.

IMO the evidence suggests that Moyes has been sitting round all summer with a gob on him over this transfer committee business and has done the square root of f.a. preparing this team for the season ahead.

All he's put any effort into is complaining about transfers and talking down the new start we should expect with the chance the stadium hands us - something that everyone on the playing side of the club should be buying into but he hasn't.

He's sucked the life out of this club since they end of last season. That's the truth of the matter.

So the question i need to ask is....do you rate him?
