I dont think that starting 11 is good enough to win top flight football matches.

Absolutely woeful in defence and midfield. Relegation standard.

That’s the concern. With no Branthwaite for a month, no Mykolenko and no right back, we’ll continue to see players out of position and players who aren’t good enough starting games. Pretty much every other team in the league (including the promoted sides) have significantly strengthened, whilst we’ve twiddled our thumbs and complained about how hard it is to sign players.

He wasn't 'forced' to select that side or adopt them tactics mate. He made a bit of a pigs ear of it and that was evident really before the game had even kicked off..

What were his other options in midfield and defence? What good players did he leave out ?

How can Leeds and Sunderland come pouncing out of the game and be relentless for 90 minutes and we show this effort. Right now, we truly are who we are. It ain’t because two fullbacks are out. They were like wave after wave after wave.

Oh, I completely agree with you. I don't think we've upgraded hugely at all.

Where I part ways with you is that I don't give the manager a free pass. That squad tonight was good enough to get some sort of result at Leeds - but look at the performance they delivered. And they looked unfit. That's not recruitment. And recruitment doesn't prevent you making half-time subs.

I know I've waffled a lot tonight, but my main take away is I thought the team we fielded tonight was absolutely rubbish. Nowhere near good enough for this club.

I dont blame the manager for that.

He was incredibly let down by recruitment this summer

Just like every other manager we've had in recent years

Its so difficult to start well in this league with the absolutely abysmal pre seasons we have year on year. It just seems that for some unknown reason, the club has decided that August matches are not as important as other months.

The manager is about the only person I have complete confidence in. Everything else at the club still seems disorganised.

Are people for real? The tragic managers we had before Moyes have a word!!!

Moyes is in charge of selecting the players he wants to sign.

At this point, I don't see why any of us should be defending Kinnear, Hammond, or Moyes.

I still believe that Moyes has a massive say in recruitment and I still believe he is a ditherer.
It is on Moyes to have us ready for a new season and we looked well off tonight, so off that I didn't see anything to give us optimism.

B: Demanded control of recruitment

Way too early to write off Moyes, especially the way he transformed the team after he came in last season. Don’t get me wrong, he definitely needs to answer for tonights awful performance, but it is the first game. Let’s give him some time.

I just think we’ve made good signings (Grealish, KDH) but also made some baffling decisions (keeping Keane and Coleman, no links to a RB for two months) so that’s as fair a criticism I can go

Hasn't kicked up much fuss about signings. Interesting. Wonder if he's been told to cut it out. Night and day compred to how he has been raging about signings before today.

Why ease players in? Go all out. Start Barry. Don’t waste him sitting on the bench. Should’ve started him on a promoted side. Start Grealish. He’s so much better than everyone on Leeds. Just go for it. Don’t slowly meter people in. Play like a boss and go for it like every game result wins you the league.
