I understand what you’re saying mate, and I’m not suggesting otherwise.

My point is that there’s a whole world of players out there who can be scouted and signed for under £50 million. City, for example, managed to pick up a top player in his prime for less than that, and that’s despite the fact they usually pay over the odds in the transfer market.

What I find strange is that we’ve known since last summer that the right-hand side was going to be a problem. Yet here we are, two weeks before the deadline, chasing an unproven player from the English leagues who we realistically can’t afford.
Do you honestly think any of the players City signed this window would have signed for us even if we outbid City ?

And that is why Moyes has never found universal acclaim as a manager , ( and only one success ) , limited tactics.
Solid mid table manager , who is a master of reactive football .
It is why I never wanted him back .
I hope he is able to alter his style this time around . Last season gave me some hope he was ready to produce a more proactive style.
But probably looked better because he replaced a vastly overrated and ultimately very poor manager who was also a defensive coach .
No idea what you’re talking about. Counter is easiest way to score goals and one of the best tactics to use in football if you have fast players.
UTD under fergie
Chelsea under mourinho
Leicester under ranieri
Liverpool under klopp
All played counter attacking football full of pace with great success.
Only city manage to do it the with slow pep football after spending a billion to build a squad capable of that. We can’t.

Forest last year so much threat on the break

Ferguson and Klopp had far more tactical nuances to their game than kick and rush tactics. If you think they bore more than a passing resemblance to Moyes ‘ tactics I truly despair.
Mourinho was without doubt the modern master of deadeye football , respect his achievements, despise his ugly tactics .
Leicester did well , few disruptions through injuries, but were very lucky a far better team bottled it that year and the other teams were having an off season .
Anyway , blah blah blah , I’m wrong , your wrong , I’m right , your right , I couldn’t give a damn .
Bottom line is I despise back foot football , that constantly surrenders intitiative and control of the game to the opposition.

Also how quickly we win at the new stadium, win early on and we should be fine, if we don't and it gets in people's heads then we might not quite have the season we expect.
For all you’re right, I’d absolutely love us to stuff the cliché about new grounds being difficult down the throats of the lazy commentariat.

If we beat Brighton, we’ll be motoring.

I don't think it's so much the new ground, just we've been pants in the last few seasons getting off to a good start. We've struggled in pre-season and I doubt confidence will be where it needs to be.

Like you say, let's hope we stuff Leeds and then beat Brighton and we'll have no such problems.
