Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Nothing anyone says on here is helpful or is going to rectify anything. The cringe positivity and blind faith isn’t going to help anything or make our recruitment team any more competent either.
Embrace the cringe - as you yourself admit there is no point to any of it so why make yourself miserable? ;)

I’m so tired of the constant infighting, we should be looking forward to the opening game on Monday (which btw we have a good chance to win, right side or no right side), instead it’s constant oneupmanships and stating the bleeding obvious every hour, every single day

Leeds squad

This should be a slam dunk. However, Moyes teams always start slowly...

With the window going as its going i think this is a must win game.

Indeed.

I believe Moyes has presented Hammond with stupidly unrealistic targets such as Conceicao.

Then I think he has played to the fans in the media.

Weve managed to bring in certain players that hes not seemed fully behind such as Aznou, Alcaraz and Barry.

Then short term impact signings Grealish and KDH hes really praised.

For me, I point the finger at Moyes and secondly I have no idea why Hammond was hired.
It’s not Moyes individually presenting the targets it’s a recruitment committee that he is part of. So I don’t see how you can point the finger at him while also saying he hasn’t been fully behind the signings of Aznou, Alcaraz and Barry.

On Conceição, at one stage Juventus fans genuinely thought he wasn’t staying, so if Everton hadn’t tested the waters it would almost have been a missed opportunity. That’s not unrealistic, it’s just exploring a potential opening.

As for Hammond, his role is to negotiate and structure deals. Most industries have someone in that type of position. We don’t have a Director of Football, so his appointment seems logical to me.

It’s Zat trying to be Dave-lite with a weird fixation on blaming Moyes for everything

All of this can’t be blamed on Moyes. Sure, he may say certain players he’d prefer based on what he’s seen or heard on his own or that’s been presented to him. But he’s a manager, not a scout. He can’t possibly be aware of the hundreds upon hundreds of available options across all leagues he could choose from. Its probably a combination of players he’s worked with in the past, players whose talents has risen to his level to be heard, and what his team is telling him based on what they know Moyes prefers and is looking for. Just not fair to say it’s a one man show. It can’t possibly be.

Was it moyes fault about fofana then whole tranfer management team is to blame

Playing newly promoted clubs away at the very start of the season u
Is never easy

I don't know where the idea is coming from that this is an easy game for us.

If it is seen that way naively imo by some it is because of the work of DM from February to May of last season.

I think Juventus were always signing Conceicao. They werent getting a better player for €30mil and 3 months ago i believe it was in the media that they were in talks to proceed.

This recruitment committee is Hammond, Kinnear and Moyes.

Hammond seemingly fails to do the deals
Moyes fails to provide realistic targets
Kinnear fails to sign off the funds

Clearly Moyes works with the scouts, his contacts and suchlike and proposes the players to the other 2.

So far its been a failure and for months some of us have been saying:

1: Not to have Moyes in control of recruitment
2: To keep Thelwell
3: Why is Hammond joining

Id love to have been wrong but the window has been an utter shambles.

This reminds be of the famous Koeman window.

You seem to be obsessed with other people. Perhaps try to read a book or take a course.

We know there are 3 people in the committee. Him, Hammond and Kinnear.

How did managers sign players for many years? They work with scouting teams, as Thelwell will have also done.

I actually think that was a brilliant target and may still be achievable.

But we were only ever going to get him for a big fee and big wages.

This would be a major coup but its one that we'd have had a chance with.
