Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Sometimes existing is good enough
Not in a competitive sport it isn’t , not really.
The fact that Everton are one of the very few clubs who have had no meaningful success to celebrate in 30years of competing , is grim.
Very dispiriting .
If the very thing you rely on to escape the boring grind of everyday life has itself become a boring grind , it’s not fit for purpose.
Existing just to exist ? , that’s soul destroying.

It’s no excuse for us not getting the players we need but looking at some of these squads we’re definitely not the only ones with work to do. Next 2 weeks are going to be very busy.

1: I'm not seeing why 6 of our 7 signings werent signed 1st week of July.

2: I'm not seeing the weaker positions strengthened.

3: Weve signed a giant CF to add to our existing giant CF. Who puts in the crosses?

Just 3 of the many wonders.
Players don`t need to be in much of a rush to sign up that early unless they are really sure that its the best offer they`ll get and want to settle in to their new club. Add to that the selling club won`t be in a rush to take the first offer that comes in knowing that if they let things run for a few weeks another club might come in and the transfer fee they`ll get could rise.
From our view point, even though we are short of numbers in certain areas, I`d prefer we don`t jump in offering silly wages and paying through the roof for transfer fees and end up signing a couple of wrong `uns that we can`t offload to recoup some cash.

1. There could be numerous reasons tbf, but I agree overall its been a bit slow.

2 You can't say we haven't tried, especially on things like the RW role. At the end of the day we are not an attractive proposition atm for many players

3. We have to get out of this imo. Just because a striker happens to be over 6ft+ tall doesn't automatically mean they want the ball aimed at their head/chest area. Many modern strikers would rather run onto the ball thus there are numerous different ways we could setup.

I'm confident we get another few in myself and we will be fine in the end.

Yes, ive considered this.

Barry we overpaid a bit at the time.
Aznou had a release clause
Alcaraz we had an option
KDH was not wanted at Chelsea
Travers was not wanted at Bournemouth
King it seems was available for pennies

Any and all of these players could have been a 1st week of July signing. None were exactly challenging deals.

The one i can accept has taken time is Grealish. A loan.

When will people understand it can take months to negotiate for a player. Drives me mad on here.

Sure. Do you REALLY believe that Everton have been negotiating for MONTHS for the 7 players weve signed?

Do you really? I certainly dont.

Point 1 i addressed above.

Point 2: Yes, some targets were stupidly unrealistic and others weve failed on.

Point 3: Barry has very good statistics for winning aerial challenges. I think he was in the 99th percentile.

This is a major strength and something to utilse.

None of them was probably first choice, I think it's fairly clear we've failed to get our top targets, the question is how realistic it was that we would get them.

Everyone’s top targets in the PL reside with the top clubs and went there within a few days of the window opening. We’re not the only club still trying to get deals done. We’re just feeling the frustration of ours and feel our situation the most.

Indeed.

I believe Moyes has presented Hammond with stupidly unrealistic targets such as Conceicao.

Then I think he has played to the fans in the media.

Weve managed to bring in certain players that hes not seemed fully behind such as Aznou, Alcaraz and Barry.

Then short term impact signings Grealish and KDH hes really praised.

For me, I point the finger at Moyes and secondly I have no idea why Hammond was hired.

I’m so tired of the constant infighting, we should be looking forward to the opening game on Monday (which btw we have a good chance to win, right side or no right side), instead it’s constant oneupmanships and stating the bleeding obvious every hour, every single day
