Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

You've kinda proved my point there though. The fee is of levels of a more developed player.

The issue for me is that I dont think we're at a stage to develop a £40mill 19 year old yet. We brought in Chermiti, JOB, Alcaraz for around £20mill a pop to develop them for example. Dibbling has to start and fans will demand performances from a player that would be, i think, our 3rd or 4th most expensive ever player

We're also not finding a diamond. Im surprised Chelsea or Spurs aren't all over him if so.

Swear down people will be crying out for McNeil to start half way through the season.
This is my issue with it if we had a competent first team right winger already this gamble would make sense. But 40m+ on a 19 year old kid that will likely take a season or two to develop seems a massive reach when we don't have anyone on the right who can play there naturally as it stands. Yes I like the potential but this deal seems like a gamble. As is waiting on a deal that may never come off when we have nobody there... Its very Gnonto when our needs are such that we should have already secured a right winger whilst pursuing this...

Still wouldn't go above £40m for the lad personally. Feel we just need to stick to our guns for once when it comes to valuations. Don't want squeaky PSR situations again, which we should be avoiding at all costs..

This reminds me of gana contract situation....was offered 1 year, and he said he wanted 2...we waited and waited in the hope that he changes his mind. At the end, we had to offer him what he wanted in the first place which we could have done sooner to save the uncertainty for weeks.
No mate. Gana wanted a two year contract, he ended up signing a one year with option of second. The club got what it wanted in the end, not having to commit to a second season, if his form falls of a cliff.

Weirdly felt confident this whole time that this will be done eventually.

Club seems to have earmarked RW as where they'll spend the most money all summer - certainly had the biggest targets by a long shot. We've had a very clear list of 5 or so top targets. This is the only one of those where the player wants to come and the clubs valuations aren't *miles* apart. Imo they're taking the time to see if they can save 5-10m but eventually will pay what they need.

Yeah.

I like the player, he'd be a great addition with a high ceiling.

But for the price it doesn't solve our lack of pace, aggression, and end product in the final 3rd coming from the right side.

Thing about Dibling is this. The club has had one very specific constant across all their RW targets this summer - that they can dribble and move the ball up the pitch with their feet. That is very much THE thing they are looking for from that position. That is also THE thing that Dibling can already do at an elite level.

Pretty much everything else about him is a project player yes, but the most important job that the club want from that position is something he's already doing at a top level, so he fits the piece of puzzle enough I think.

Who should we get instead then? Jack Harrison?

So basically the complete opposite of what the poster said and our plan worked perfectly. But people never miss an opportunity to view the club as incompetent. Maybe that's a mindset we need to change as a fan base. Overwhelming negativity and always thinking/expecting the worst so even successful negotiations are framed as failures.

It would cost much much more for the player you are looking for and he definitely wouldn't come. I'd sooner take a gamble on a potentially generational talent.

The deal is almost certainly too expensive but time is now against us. There are not going to be many alternatives who represent value either.

So for me it comes down to how much does Moyes want the player. If the manager is convinced he is the right player then go do the deal and accept we've overpaid.

The alternative of getting in no good right wide player isn't acceptable if we want to move forward.
