Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The same Guardian panel that said Dyche was a reason we wouldn't go last season is saying Moyes is the reason we will finish 19th this. The others all echoed the shout except Rushden. They also said the stadium would be a disaster and that left winger from Burnley has been our only success story. Insight.

Contrarian merchant, never been able to stand him. All those years and all that money on private school and elite universities and supposed "love of the game" and that's the level of football journalism you can put out. It is beggars belief, The Guardian is awful at hiring footy jounos.

It is a sad state of affairs for a paper that at different times in my younger years had the legendary Brian Glanville, David Lacey and Patrick Barclay with the magnificent Hugh McIlvanney at then sister paper, The Observer. Once they had the very best coverage going. Now they have a bunch of clowns.

Have you finally given up and accepted Patterson isn’t any good?

When hes being slated for having ok games at right back with an empty space ahead of him all game then its time for him to move on.

He certainly was fine under Lampard and fine otherwise since then despite having injuries that repeatedly paused his development.

Certainly an avalanche of reasons why he hasnt been favoured by a vocal minority.

That podcast died a sad death after James Richardson left. I listened to it during the 2006 World Cup and for as long as AC Jimbo was at the controls. He never took himself remotely seriously, but gave football - for all its ludicrousness - due respect. Rushden and Glendenning turning up at Talksport tells you all you need to know. Their hackneyed woke straightman meets WUM comedy foil shtick has long since tired itself out, especially now as it appears they come as a monetised package.

Glendenning can be funny - but he needs manners put on him at times and Rushden lacks Richardson's authority. Barry knew James wasn't just smarter than him - he was also funnier.

To be honest, I am harking back nearly 20 years when podcasting was naive, virgin territory. Once "journalists" cottoned on to its money-making possibilities, it was always a slippery slope to BT's The European Football Show featuring Richardson, Raphael Honigstein, and Julien Laurens, and subsequently The Gab and Jules Show (with Laurens) and The Athletic (with Honigstein). What started great gets monetised into the lowest common denominator.

They seemed to forget that most of them had very little to offer that you wouldn't get down the pub from your World Soccer-reading mate.

Sports journalists are regarded as bottom feeders by other journalists.
The Guardian is an establishment shill. A load of middle class women ‘writers’ moaning about the price of avocadoes in Sainsburys. The blokes are all rug munchers…
He's just a bitter clown every time we get mentioned, you would think he would get us more as a Sunderland fan...

He has been unlucky with injuries and yes at times should have got more game time. But in our position his lack of defensive awareness and progression in his game means he needs to go somewhere else and play week in week out..if he can.
