2025/26 Youssef Chermiti

The idea situation would be to send him to Portugal on loan for a season so he can stat pad, with us trying to recoup the money spent next summer

Every game he’s played he’s looked like an academy player getting their first run out.

Thats basically what he was.

Had half a season for sporting when their senior striker was injured.

Joined Everton as a long term prospect.

Had a few run outs where he showed pace, technique and spacial awareness and then a positive preseason.

Injured 2ce last season.

Moyes played him on the wing this preseason.

There is quite a lot of Championship interest in him. A loan with a fairly high option is the most likely outcome. We are more likely to bring in Antonio on a 1+1 (club option) than sign someone like Dobvyk unless as CF is not where want to prioritise £.

Really hoping it still works out for him, must admit thought he would do well in a wide role, probably less said about that the better, hopefully a loan will revitalise his career, he’s still young so has time on his side, In theory!.

….i thought this was the Chermiti thread

I thought he looked good November last year when he started to get some minutes off the bench, showed lots of good touches and a surprising turn of pace. Defo a good footballer in there. Obviously the injury didn't help and I feel like we've never played a style of football that would suit him - more possession based when he can drop into pockets and use his good feet to link up with midfielders in the half spaces.

I'd keep him if it was up to me

The bar then was incredibly low though, has to be said

….we’ve had a paucity of strikers during his time here and he’s never once threatened to claim a place. I appreciate he was injured last season but he’s had an open goal as far as breaking into the team but he’s not looked remotely good enough. I don’t remember him looking a threat or providing a single ‘that’ll do me’ moment in his PL cameo’s.

Apart from his injury there are no excuses and it looks like Moyes has seen enough.

…..according to The Bobble, ‘Chermiti has failed to impress in pre-season’. Sounds like the club are open to a permanent move, no idea who would take him.

I accept to having a contrary view to the vast majority on here but I’m not in the least surprised if Bobble’s report is accurate.
I've not been impressed with what i have seen. Seems his application hasn't been there this summer
Whether its a loan or permanent, we can add it to the stick to beat Kev Thelwell with.

Needs to play, sitting on the bench or the U23s will only regress him even more. Look at Barry, a player who got a proper season under his belt in Spain and came on loads compared to how he looked only a year before in Switzerland.

Players without minutes will never develop.

….i see this view posted lots but young footballers have to earn game time. If we take your approach we have to play all our young players in the PL to let them develop. Just imagine.

It’s a results business, we’ve struggled with strikers during his time here. Any manager who thought he was remotely the answer would be desperate to have him involved. Remember DCL breaking through and showing he could be effective at this level, he forced his way in. It’s what young players have to do, seize the opportunity.
