Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We have 4 players who can play there, and the current tactics that worked last season require a RB who can slot in at CB when we're under pressure.

We also have 4 players who can play RB, with 2 or 3 natural RBs (for our tactic) (depending on your views on JO'B) and Garner is more than capable at RB - we have ZERO natural RWs.
We have players who can play at RW too though such as Ndiaye, McNeil, Alcaraz etc. Not that any are that good there aside from Ndiaye mind you.

I agree that RW is a bigger problem than RB but they are both positions of urgency in terms of a dearth of quality. JOB did well last season but he's not a RB, neither is Garner.

They do cost more, the £5-£10m is really now £10m-£20m you would think. Maybe that’s where I’m wrong if the Omari Hutchinson’s of this world are being touted at £35m, perhaps that market doesn’t exist now, but he’s hardly an unknown……
Maybe we’re seeing the fruits of Chelsea and City etc hoovering up all the young talent….. makes the Dibling and Hutchinson’s costs look like quite the gamble though.

Bryan MBuemo cost Brentford £5.8m - they 100% exist, but whomever it is at the club seems to think these pot shots (and that's what they are, really) are beneath us for whatever reason. I guess the lad from Bayern could be classed in that bracket. I think right now there is a huge emphasis on PL experience and I get why (kind of), I just 100% disagree with that rationale

I asked Google AI

"Kubo strong transfer rumour to Everton"

which scanned 9 current sites and came up with this:

Yes, there have been strong rumours linking Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo with a potential move to Everton during the summer 2025 transfer window. Everton are looking to bolster their attacking options, especially on the right wing, after the loan departures of Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom.
Here's a breakdown of the situation:
Everton's Interest: Everton have reportedly made contact with Real Sociedad and Kubo's agents regarding a potential move. They are considering submitting a bid. The club is also interested in Malick Fofana and others.
Kubo's Interest: Kubo is reportedly open to a new challenge and is believed to be interested in a Premier League move. However, he has also claimed he hasn't heard anything concrete about his future.
Real Sociedad's Stance: Sociedad wants to keep the 24-year-old Japanese international, who is under contract until 2029. While his release clause is reportedly around £50m, ToffeeWeb claims they may be willing to consider offers in the region of £34.6m. Real Madrid holds a 50% sell-on clause from his transfer to Sociedad in 2022.
Other Interest: Kubo is also attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, as well as teams in La Liga and the Bundesliga. Napoli are also reportedly assessing their options with Kubo on their radar.
Takefusa Kubo's La Liga stats (2024/25 season)
Statistic Value
Appearances 36
Starts 27
Goals 5

Context:
Everton are looking to improve their attacking output for the upcoming season, particularly on the right flank. They recently signed Jack Grealish, and the potential pairing of Kubo with Grealish is seen as a way to create a dynamic and technical attacking threat different from other Premier League teams. Kubo has a good scoring record in La Liga and European competitions. His age and experience suggest long-term value, but the cost and competition for his signature remain significant hurdles for Everton.

I 100% agree - IMO RB should been the third priority this window behind RW and another RW. I get transfers don't work like that, but I think most would say that the top three priorities would have been a RW, a player that can play across the line/up front but mainly RW (maybe JG is meant to be this player 🤷‍♂️) and a RB (though not necessarily in that order).

For me, not having all those 3 in by the end of the window will be really bad, not having a RW in by Leeds is borderline inexcusable.

I think that's fair mate.
