Confirmed Signing Jack Grealish

Thing with Grealish is his lifestyle - but I still think it gets overblown - I don't see him as a Gazza type out partying every day through a season, I just think he has 'high publicity' blow outs every now and again. Which makes it look way worse, just a look at him.abd never seen him not looking in great physical shape out it that way.

Plus, if you can't look at the way he celebrated the city treble and smile and feel you'd not do the exact same thing then you're boring 😂

A big issue for me is whether he has that hunger, which it sounds like he does. You can see from his body shape he's still very determined. You look at someone like Dele, but he just lost his desire to want to play.

Your certainly right there! We have THREE England players now, two who could maybe just scrape £130k a week. The top teams SUBS start at that salary and most pay whatever the player wants just to get him. We may get there eventually but at the moment it's a fair few years off. But heres hoping we don't hang around.
Being "old school" or just old maybe, I don't like that it is like this now, but, as with the new stadium and US owners, etc, we have little choice but to go that way.

Np idea how it works being honest mate - just like the fact we haven't got a silly 50m figure pre arranged as makes a permanent deal now far more doable if he does well.

The club don't have to and won't enact that figure though.

What's likely to happen, if he does well if they will either renegotiate a loan (which will be the easiest and probably most PSR effective way for both parties) or maybe pay his book value which will be around 17m.

Is he fit enough to start on Monday v Leeds, as i don't think he has played any pre season games?
As Dewsbury hall looked gassed on sat around 60 mins and he has had games
That's why it is good we are building a squad of quality so that we have options for starters every game and off the bench.
That's also why I don't understand those who were against signing Grealish.

My main reason for not being sold on it, is precisely that we need numbers as well as quality. Our PSR issues are reduced, but it’s still a factor. Grealish isn’t going to be on small wages, so it’s possible that signing him as a short term option might mean we don’t sign two longer term options.
Obviously it’s a trade off between quality and quantity. We need both ideally. If Grealish’s wages mean we go in to the season with a thin squad, that’s not good. Hopefully the guys doing the accounting are doing a better job that in the last five years.

This just doesn't make sense?
Us "can we buy him if we want?"
City "ye"
Us "option to buy acquired" 😎
First right of refusal isn't that rare. We'd basically get the opportunity to negotiate with City over a transfer and match any third party offers they might receive.

Not against Grealish signing at all, I am made up, jist wondering if he is fit enough for Leeds

Sure. But that's not quite the same thing As an option to buy. Either way, booking forward to seeing him play for us

I'm not the OP, but I reckon it’s more about value protection than anything else. If they just sent him on loan with no option, it could look like his stock has dropped and nobody wants him. Sticking a big number option to buy in there keeps in people's minds that he's a 50m player... helps City protect his market value for the future.
It’s a reasonable point but I’m not sure tbh. He’ll have one year left on his contract and he’ll be 30. No club in their right mind would pay anything like £50 million to buy him.

Idea for a Jack Grealish meet and greet event on the fan plaza. We could pay his wages for the year from people on here alone.

I'm not 100% sure on this and how it works, but I believe that EPL and Europe have different methods for PSR, EPL being average spend focused and Europe being percentage wage/income focused. We aren't in Europe this year, so wages can be high and not show in spend profile as a £12m outlay with no amortisation as its over 1 year. Next year, we may be in Europe if all goes to plan, in which case increased income to offset a cash purchase over 3 years or so depending on performance and negotiate a lower wage if he wishes to stay. It offers us a way of altering the columns on the spread sheet as our profile changes, with a get out clause.

I might be completely wrong though and welcome anybody saying I'm chatting wham if I am.
