Makes them look dead strong in negotiations that

"Hi Everton, we've not heard from you in a few days. As we said, we don't want to sell the player, but if we did this is the exact amount"

I'd suspect we've made an offer and are awaiting a response. A response that expectedly sees them come down a bit from their previous demands. Only thing that makes sense really.

It would, but it also doesn't sound like he's the type to do that. Seems like him training away and not featuring has been more Southampton's decision than Dibling's, though obviously he has expressed a desire to make the move. If it doesn't happen, I highly doubt he goes full Isak over it.

The idea that Southampton are going to send us ONE FINAL OFFER!! tomorrow is absolutely insane too btw, but I love the sound of it. If it is somehow true, and it is even a slight compromise on the last FINAL OFFER!! then Everton would be wise to accept it very swiftly.
Its a possibility

They offer one final offer, if we say no…they go to Dibling we tried they never came back for you. Your here till at least Jan…get on with it son.

If we accept it they get an offer they are happy with it and will spin it to sound like we gave into their demands, for an unproven (with potential) 19 year old.

The fact Dibling was withdrawn…but Fernadez despite interest played tonight shows Soton are only willing to sell Dibling

Hopefully he's told them he wants to meove here, and here only. That always forces a clubs hand to a degree.

Suppose I'm a hypocrite, because I wouldn't be happy if one of our players did it, but hey ho, it's part of the game. Real Madrid could do it to us, we can do it to Southampton. It's just the pecking order.

Interesting the timing of this right after we had talks over Fatawa at Leicester - maybe saints worrying we are actually not gonna come back in after all.

My own view would be we would try to secure a few for Fatawa, and make a final offer for Dibling, if it's rejected go forward with Fofana.

The thing with using a decoy though, is you actually nees to be credible with your alternative and prepared to go ahead with it.

Aside from that, if they have blinked first with a 2nd offer, that does show a lot of weakness. Everton can legitimately just say our offer still stands.

Thinking of it, they may be trying to call the players bluff a bit as well, and get him to formally put a transfer request in. I.e we offered him to Everton, they didn't do it, you need to play unless you tell us not too. It's the exact sort of stuff we did under previous regimes to young players, before selling them to make them into the villain.

If the last says I want to go, difficult to see where Southampton go.

According to Toffee tv looks like Southampton will make us a final offer on Dibling tommorow, if we don't accept it then Dibling will be going back into the team to face Ipswich on Saturday, this has come off the Peoples Forum site.
You got a link to the video?

A transfer request also normally invalidates any loyalty bonus/signing fee. Saying that though, I can't imagine Dibling's is anything substantial in the big scheme of things.

I hope you're right, but it just seems like too far-fetched a scenario for me to believe for now. I can see a world where he fronts up for training tomorrow because we've walked away, and that gets run as "look, Everton turned down the mysterious final offer".

But you are definitely right that whichever way it goes it's going to get spun into oblivion by each club. I don't think there are any actual bad guys here, just everybody looking after their own interests but being a little too scared to take a risk and so everyone misses out.

No but would make him the villan and soton the innocent victims to their fans

Who already seem to think were on their level and are unsure why he’d come here

That would be a bold move, but I think Fofana will still want CL footie...
