Dominic Calvert-Lewin watch

Wish the lad all the best, but there’s a real reap what you sow feeling with his current situation.

He was never getting an offer as good as what he was at Everton, but he’s been advised terribly.
Certainly has. Didn't he sack his agent earlier in the year while he was still with us? And again recently? You do start to wonder why he's going through so many agents. Are they telling him things he dosent want to hear maybe? Someone is in his ear advising him badly, and you do start to wonder if its his agent, or someone else!

He's currently going unpaid, and agents are definitely in it for the money, so, there will inevitably be strife over money, either a slice of any signing on fee, or a rate off his contract, unless agents demand a flat fee per annum. So hawking himself to club friendly agents seems the obvious move if he wants his dream role. Reckon he's part of the big domino rally, that when a few big moves start to fall will shock the system into a flurry of activity and intra club moves. Still believe he's got newcastle inevitably as a bolster to attacking options. With proper wingers there he could thrive.

We've had too many player for too long living out on the high hog at Everton convinced they could do better.

Well, not too many do - and we tend to know the ones who can. DCL was never one of those.

would you say that having Beto, Chermiti and Barry is better than having Beto, Barry and DCL with Chermiti out on loan (which may happen anyway)

There’s no talk that Everton are still looking for a striker, so as things stand our striking options are Beto, Barry and possibly Chermiti.

No matter what’s behind them, that’s a risk. It’s worth remembering, from what Moyes saw in training he always chose DCL ahead of him, Beto has a bit of a golden patch, that won’t and didn’t last. Lots of pressure on Barry if this scenario plays out.

I'll bite. No, I don't think we will particularly miss his three goals and inconsistent availability.

No, Moyes did not choose DCL ahead of Beto always. The last five games he was fit to play in he came off of the bench so I don't know how you've convinced yourself that this is true.

If Beto had a golden patch then that's exactly what Dom's rare flashes of goalscoring were also. He never consistently stayed fit and hit double figures outside of 18 months with Ancelotti.

Face it, Beto played better so we kept him and showed Dom the door. If it was as massive a mistake as some of you believe well we can make him a lovely panic offer if he's still available to sign in October, which the way things have gone for him appears to be the case.
