if Myko is out and Aznou not quite trusted yet, is it a crazy idea to drop McNeil in at LB/LWB? I have vague memories of him filling in pretty competently a couple years ago when we were battered by injuries at the end of the season...

It will have to be as lwb though...in a back 4 not sure.

Lets be honest, hes not good enough for a team who wants to be top half of prem. he had a couple of good games last couple of years, but that was only because there was so much [Poor language removed] around him
Drives me up the wall when he just gets rid of the ball to anyone, putting the player reciving under pressure

If Aznou doesn’t start it’s another ridiculous signing a bit like when we signed Patterson but needed a first team starting RB. To be playing McNeil over a natural LB is ridiculous and shows he’s not very well fancied even if he is one for the future, if he doesn’t already possess better defensive ability and instinct than McNeil he’s not even good enough to be back up to Mykolenko and if McNeil plays he wasn’t bought as back up to him either.

He does something that boils my wee wee.

When contesting a header in midfield he will not jump as if hes expecting to win the 2nd ball. But he's underneath the ball so unless the ball is cushioned it won't fall down to him. So hes not getting the 2nd ball. So what use was he just stood there. Block a channel or contest the header and force a mistake....just do something!!!

Very true, some players are just not comfortable going in for headers unfortunately. He's one of them.

I’ve long wondered if he could make the move to left back like Young did. He hasn’t got any pace so might suit him better. He’s been a very defensive wide player most of his career and is extremely diligent. He’d need a bit of training on playing in the defensive line but could help prolong his career at the top level.

Any time he's played LB or LWB he's been woefully out of his depth in terms of positioning, awareness, and like Nymzee said-pace.

Guy also had 10 goal involvements last season, while missing half of it.
