It stands to reason that if you overpay for things you won't have enough money to buy other things that you need. Or you borrow like crazy, watch your finances fall through the floor, and suffer from points deductions. The general attitude of that time was one of overspending and Glyfi is right at the top of that list. We suffered immensely from PSR and I don't want financial indiscipline to crush us again.

I remember at the time fans who raised concerns overpaying for players at the times where met by responses of other fans.... its not your money so why do you care what we spend..A few years later from overspending PSR had us in deep trouble we was fortunate enough to escape.

If we had gotten him earlier then he wouldn't have cost that much

I thought we bought Beto and Chermiti around exactly the same time and we were heavily linked to him before we did so. They together added up to more than Sporting paid for Gyok.

Harrison Burrows. Been banging this drum a while. Also Van Erwik (sp) at Coventry. LB and RB there.

maybe. But he had 2 good seasons at Coventry before sporting. Prior to that, had done pretty much nothing to suggest he was going to break out like he did.

I don’t know how much Coventry would have wanted the season before they did sell him but he scored 17 in the league so I would assume similar to what they got.

Yeah but we are talking about taking him as a cheap punt.

We supposedly were in for him but he said no as far as I recall. Beto was also proven in a top league so was expected to be able to make the step, maybe they didn’t think Gyokeres would. (Still might not, Portuguese league isn’t exactly top level).
