Merseyrail yesterday.

Nope. It's less than 15 mins walk to Sandhills from HD stadium
I got dropped off beforehand around 2pm at Derby Rd/Bankfield St - was aiming to get dropped nearer but townbound traffic had ground to a bit of standstill.
Stayed after legends game and then got 56 bus north on Vauxhall Rd at 7pm.
Traffic around there was still pretty heavy at that time but cleared once on Commercial/Melrose Rd.

Brighton will be a nightmare

almost 53,000 people all leaving at the same time

Least yesterday around 15,000 fans stayed behind to see the legends game or walk around the stadium for a bit whereas against Brighton it will be a mass exodus with massive queues for the train I’d imagine
I think this kind of scaremongering chat is part of the issue. These sort of posts don't serve well and this informative information doesnt help anxious fans who are travelling for the first time. 53,000 isn't even the capacity, it around 52, 500. Don't know the exact figures, but some 8,000 or more are away fans on coaches.

There's a few thousand who get to drink in corporate 1hr after the game. Then there's people who came by bus, taxi, bike, foot. Some who don't need to go anywhere near Sandhills. It's also a bloody Bank Holiday Monday, so if we happen to win people like myself will be on it, and won't be desperate to get the train immediately after the match. So 53k fans aren't going to storm Sandhills for the first train after the game. Pfft.

I never said 53,000 is the capacity so learn to read

By the time the train reaches Sandhills going towards Southport it’s already stopped at central and moorfields and the trains are half full.

I guess we will find out after Brighton won’t we

It will be more of a “true test”. I was there yesterday and left after the legends game, walked down the dock road towards town and didn’t have a problem.
Hopefully more of the bars along the way will be finished by then and people will hang around the area.
I know the club have said they want people to stay after the games and eat and drink in the stadium, that might be fine if you have access to the Trinity Place bar or village street, but the rest of the concourse has very few places to sit, so I’m not sure how realistic that is.

Stop being sensible mate... that is not liked at all!

Sandhills will be tested most when there isn't a stay behind match for thousands of people and when the weather isn't as nice post match yesterday.
Merseyrail was great yesterday both before and after game.
Got to Sandhills about 14.10 and went back after the game to Moorfields.
No problems whatsoever.
Filter lanes, crowd control and young ladies giving out toffee
Very well organised, with 8 instead of the usual 4 coaches.
Don't see the problem with the Brighton game. Not everyone will use the trains. I was tempted to walk myself.
The only thing I would say is the queues looked bigger for Ormskirk and Southport. Than for Moorfields etc.

I suspect they pulled all the stops out for this last test event.

More realistic service levels + more passengers on the line as everyone makes their way home - and there's less clement weather - after FT will really stress test Sandhills.

All that was said about the need for greater connectivity to make this stadium work doesn't just evaporate overnight because of the rarified conditions of Everton v Roma and Everton v Roma back-to-back.

Our experience was good..... arrived into Sandhills from South Parkway about 1245 ish.... Everton mints handed out to the kids.

Mrs and the youngest went back through Sandhills about 5:30 and said it was great and very well organised!
