Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Mate there's literally no point in even telling him this.

He wants players bought NOW NOW NOW completely disregarding the fact that, under Moshiri, we were often so disjointed and unfocused with our signings during past transfer windows that it ultimately (and very evidently) worked to our detriment so often, which was a big part of the reason why he came to hate Moshiri himself by the end. A bit of diligence & pragmatism applied by the new owners in their very first summer window and they've apparently 'failed' right out of the gate..

The irony is so thick you could choke on it.
It's years since we last signed players early under moshiri. We haven't had a good pre season really in 5 or 6 years. In fact the last 3 seasons under moshiri we had absolutely horrendous pre seasons, and didn't even have an available centre forward for the opening games a couple of times.

I'm not sure Moshiris time here is a good reason not to do business early. In his last 3 or 4 years here we had terrible pre seasons with all our business late in August and that led to terrible starts which resulted in relegation battles.

It's exactly why many of us wanted to see more of a plan earlier in the window so we would hopefully get off to a decent start for once.

I think budgeting spending 80-100k per week on a player like this may not be the smartest choice mate.

Garner is imo better and in around 30-35k PW, KDH in around what - 70-80 tops.

Well if you think James Garner is better then fair play, there really is no point continuing the discussion.

It’s meaningless tripe. What has the failed Moshiri era got to do with us going into a season 8 years later with no right wingers, no functioning right back and no midfield depth?
You literally sound like you'd sooner have the Moshiri days back based on how you've been going on and on and on and on and on and on about how the new crowd haven't been padding the squad out with a bunch of nothing players before the season kicks off in earnest.

Your 'expectations' for this summer's business have been seriously misplaced and that isn't the clubs problem - it's yours

Well your expectations seem to be shifting and changing every week based on the club continuing to fail to address priority positions on the pitch. Maybe I was seriously misplaced in expecting us to have a right winger in by the start of the season, maybe I was stupid to think we would have a first team right back in time for the season. But I bet if you pulled your head out of the sandpit and was completely honest with us all, you would’ve expected all of those things by now too. If I’d suggested to you in May that we’d be in this position you’d have laughing emoji’d it and shot me down as a bedwetter.

At the end of the day you’ve clearly decided to cash all of your chips in on our recruitment team based, at this stage, on nothing but absolute blind faith. All your arguments ever amount to is “stop crying of course everything will turn out great”. I choose to follow reality and react to events as they play out in real life. I’m awfully sorry if reality upsets you.

That kind of shift wasn't going to happen in a single summer mate. Just feel like its a bit naive if you expected wholesale change... it was always about being sensible & pragmatic this summer knowing that Moyes was likely to have the squad performing to a decent level this upcoming season regardless.

Cutting the squad right down to the core that performed well for us in the final month of the season was absolute priority this summer from a financial point of view and they achieved that early. Re-building a quality squad from here is, obviously, going to take multiple windows.

We needed about 10 players so that's not evolution to me. This is a big opportunity to fully overhaul the squad and one we absolutely should want to take.

Not having a senior right wide player is not sensible and pragmatic to me. It's a failure to provide the manager with what he needs.

I expected a huge shift this summer compared with what we had seen under Moshiri because things have been absolutely terrible for years.

I expected a RW in before 1st September and I still do. Thats literally all.

And I don't rate garner that much either.

Brownhill is career championship standard, it's why he's never really progressed above it at 29 I think he is.

But he has, he’s played several seasons in the Premier League?

What level do you think Tim Iroegbunam will settle out at?
