Confirmed Signing Thierno Barry

Must have watched a different player to some in this thread today. He's Beto the second. Poor touch, rash decisions, fluffed his lines when he had a chance.

Raw? He's 22. 23 in three months.

Hope more than anything that I'm wrong but doesn't look like the answer

I'll go out on a limb and say he won't be more effective than Beto this season.

And that shouldn't be a surprise because he's young and new to club, league and country. So no, this isn't a post criticising him.

I just don't know why the club didn't use that £30m to bring in a proven striker—baffled that it's gone on somebody essentially exactly the same as Beto.

Hes not as good as Beto right now, and that should be shocking to no one. Not sure why anyone expected him to come in and be better than a striker 5 years older who is the exact same profile?

He was brought in to replace DCL as the backup, to later develop into the starter. I also remember how people talked about Beto his first months here...Some of you have the memory of a goldfish.

You think Liverpool fans are saying that about Wirtz? Guess what - same age as Barry.

Our bar has become so low now we look for excuses to give players more grace than they deserve. He should be hitting the ground running in a friendly against an Italian team. He is one of our most expensive signings in our history - expect more.

We need players better than what we have and goal scoring has been a major problem here for some time.

If what you say is right and hes not as good as Beto right now then that’s a problem because for me Beto isn’t the answer either. What would be the point in signing players who are no better than what we have?

I'm gonna go against most and say he will replace Beto as first choice within the first 10 games of the season.

Has more about him than Beto, needs sharpness and to get used to his team mates.

Who is this mythical proven striker you speak of in that price bracket?

No verdict. Not that crazy. But we do seem to love spending money on centre forwards who look like they've just been introduced to a football.
Roll on the season.
