Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

You are one weird bloke. Alcaraz was available in April. You are then talking about bench options when I had clearly said ‘our first eleven’.

The first eleven now is no better than at the back end of last season, unless you consider KDH a huge upgrade on Garner or Alcaraz - and that is a real stretch.

I mean, this isn’t even controversial.
Is it a stretch yeah?? haha christ alive..

KDH walks into that side alone and instantly improves it in either of Doucoure's or Harrison's absence. How about that then?

Pickford

O'Brien - Tarks - Branthwaite - Myko/Aznou

Garner/Armstrong
--- Gana

Alcaraz/McNeil
--- KDH ----- Ndiaye

Beto/Barry

Literally any variation of that XI above is better than anything we fielded last season.. and if you genuinely disagree then I'm afraid I really can't help you.

It is better….KDH is an upgrade and that’s coming from someone who thinks Garner’s much better than he’s given credit for.

I personally think Garner’s the answer to our right back problem, he’ll be very good there and KDH is much better than Garner as a midfielder.

Therefore 2 positions have improved whilst I still believe Barry will be a big improvement on the very useful, despite being awkward and limited, Beto.

If anyone thinks we’re making an outlay like that on Barry but not planning on playing him, they’re being very naive. Moyes has never seemed convinced by Beto and I still believe Barry will be our main striker this season.

Right. So our best team is ten players we had last season plus KDH instead of Garner or Alcaraz.

None us truly know what Everton, let alone other clubs, will do. Ultimately other clubs don’t need to fully meet City’s ask, they just need to be closer to it than us as the deadline approaches. Spurs might. Newcastle might. Villa might. Paddy Boyland’s pros and cons article on Grealish today was less than optimistic that we will ultimately be in poll position. I have no issue waiting it out as unlike RW we have Ndiaye and McNeil already so do not have the glaring need we have at RW.
I mean, obviously I was guessing. Guessing based on our, and other clubs, prior activities, but guessing nevertheless. To be clear, I think the most likely outcome, based on all of the information that I currently have, is that Jack Grealish signs for us on deadline day with Man City paying some of his wages.

Please don’t call me ‘mate’.

In many previous years I understood the piping down of overly negative posters

Even now if somebody is clearly just on the windup, I understand the piping down and the pile on

However given the period we have just come out of, added to the general history of the clubs management under the last two regimes, I really don't understand the reaction to people being currently pessimistic, negative and assuming the worst.

Can you let Everton actually prove they know what they are doing now, instead of belittling peoples concerns with talk of "we will do this" or "let's see when the window closes". It should be acknowledged equally that maybe they won't do what you expect, and maybe it won't be a great situation come Sep 1st. I mean we all have recent experience of the club doing a lot of things wrong, so who the hell knows if these new guys will continue that pattern in some areas.

The club's been a joke for ages. The new owners are only in the door so who the hell knows how they'll turn out, and our last experience with promising new ownership turned to scheisse. Just because some of you want to be optimistic and don't seem to want negativity around at all, shouldn't mean you can't sympathise that many of the fans won't get to that place until they see good things actually happening consistently.

And I say this as somebody who is very indifferent to it all still. I'm excited to see that opening game at the new stadium, and get over for a game, but the rest of it I'm too burnt by the last few seasons to be turned around by a Moyes-led new era. I'll wait and see.

For me with the image I have of the club coming out of the last 5 years, I think the norm should be pessimism, mistrust and negativity tbh. Fair play to those who are deciding to set themselves up again by seeing the good in almost everything.

Is it not simultaneously boring as it is simply tedious and/or tiring to just be constantly negative about the football club though? genuinely seems to border on sadism to some..

'Different strokes for different folks' and all that of course... but yeesh!

Is it not the case that a reasonable person’s opinion would be influenced by what is done, rather than what is said ?

It is only as tedious as someone constantly trying to state that everything is hunky dory and that we are better off than at time X over and over again. Which is your whole schtick. You are constantly berating people for not being over the moon about our current situation and also overstate how great everything is to the point of tedium, so maybe have a look inward before getting snippy with others.

Just so I don't get a warning for engaging with your nonsense I will state that I hope we sign Dibling soon.

Look, that some might find it boring or tedious or wonder why somebody would think like that is also understandable

I'm an optimist and a positive person

But this club FFS, it's been an utter mess. I think we should accept that lots of fans will be starting from a place of negativity and will need some actual proof of "good times" first. Those fans are entitled to join in the transfer thread lunacy as much as any others

(Disclaimer, everybody should pile on Zat always. Also I will be giving it out to overly negative people in the future if they are still moaning after we actually go a couple seasons proving the new people know what they are doing)
