Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

£4mil for a keeper no one else including his own club wanted

£9mil buyout clause for a 3rd choice LB that the manager didnt seem thrilled about.

£12mil option on a deal done by the previous DOF

£27.5mil++ which will end up being the release clause of a 2nd choice CF.

£25-30mil for a midfielder his club wanted to sell.

The Everton masterclass.

oh doesn’t suit for MADE UP AGENDA

Not really.

I see your point.

The issue is around PR, “promises” (not the correct word but will do for now) etc.

As a fanbase we’ve been lied to, told x y z and been delivered a team who hasn’t be competitive in this league for 10 years now.

When a manager or club says something like that fans are going to grab onto it.

Firstly in hope and excitement but if failed yet again they’re going to use it as another of example of hot hair by our football club.

That can’t be hard to understand unless you just want to be ignorant
I think they expect most fans to have a certain level of maturity and not behave like a bunch of toddlers when things don’t exactly to plan. We have targeted good players in this window who are at the top end of players we can realistically attract/afford and they haven’t come off for one reason or another just yet. That doesn’t mean the club is incompetent or acting in bad faith. It just means the market is difficult. I’m sorry you’re disappointed but you’re just going to have to get over it and stop acting like a spoilt kid. Some times you get to the toy shop and the action man your parents promised to buy you isn’t in stock. No point having a hissy fit about it. You just have to be patient.

I understand what he said entirely. I connected with it because it’s what I want for the club as well and it’s what the clubs needs. (Key words, want and need).

But I’m not going to keep throwing it at him/the club and changing (or omitting) the words acting like he “promised” we would get these players. He didn’t. He wants them, as we do.

Im also not naïve enough to believe that we are all of a sudden going to sign all these elite players after the last 10 years so I’m not going to whinge about it every day.

Loads of things to be angry at the club for over the past 10 years, but constantly whinging about all of a sudden not signing a load of champions league standard players is just ridiculous.

and the past ten years we haven’t had moyes and TFG!

when my action man isn’t in stock

i head over to the barbie aisle 🫣

We'll sign Grealish on deadline day. Citeh will realise that nobody is going to offer the terms that they want and they'll want some of his wages off the books.
None us truly know what Everton, let alone other clubs, will do. Ultimately other clubs don’t need to fully meet City’s ask, they just need to be closer to it than us as the deadline approaches. Spurs might. Newcastle might. Villa might. Paddy Boyland’s pros and cons article on Grealish today was less than optimistic that we will ultimately be in poll position. I have no issue waiting it out as unlike RW we have Ndiaye and McNeil already so do not have the glaring need we have at RW.

I come home and on to the forum. Weve gone from Dibling and Grealo to Antonio. I give up. Everton is driving me to drink. Oh hang on..it already has….

“Was that the Italian boy?”

Southampton have got far too full of themselves there, and as a result they’ve either goosed themselves out of a sale altogether or made it so the player is gonna have to force a move. Neither is a good look for them, but that can’t have been something we’d have foreseen, especially when it seemed they were happy to do business early doors.
Par for the course with Southampton.

Soton setting themselves up for the season here. If they are crap then its because they sold dibling, if they are great then its because they got a great deal for Dibling and spent the money wisely on the squad. they really let their fans down last year as a laughing stock of the premier league, second worst total points ever. They have to be seen to behaving in a new way.

I didn't think it was that simple doesn't real Madrid have a 50% sell on clause along with the fact real sociedad already sold some of their better players?
Wouldn't touch a player with a sell on clause with a barge pole,

it's just bad business and leaves you at the mercy of that club who in reality control the structure of the sale

and the principal selling club wanting an inflated fee.

Likewise if one is included in the terms of a player you are trying to purchase who currently doesn't have one.

Walk away.

100%

Put very very simply, its giving the selling club 2 bites of the cherry that they didn't want.
