Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

No other club is buy this kid for £50m.

We are the only club bidding and Southampton want a bidding war.
Because he probably is not going to go to a Fulham or a Bournemouth, Brentford or a palace. And the top clubs IE champions league teams are looking for ready made players . And probably don’t want to pay this much for a young back up.
With Hutchinson probably costing something similar, this is the market unfortunately

The fee of 50m is unrealistically high, of course they set the price high, thankfully we have not been silly enough to meet it.
We bid low and have increased our offers.
We will see if a deal can be made somewhere in the middle, if not move on.

To push this deal on more quickly would probably require the player to ask for a transfer, refuse to train , say bad things about his club.
He doesn't seem to want to do any of these things... which is to his credit.
He has refused to train ....

What are you talking about? Having a good recruitment team doesn't mean every negotiation will be successful. We have try to get players for the lowest price possible, never the asking price, and we shouldn't go above our own valuation of the player. Most players get sold for less than the initial asking price of the selling club. A good recruitment team walks away and leaves the deal if it requires paying a price above our valuation of the player i.e. the complete opposite of what we did for Siggurdson.

Don’t disagree but given we kick off the season in a weeks time does a good recruitment team neglect the one position our manager said was the priority?

Do they enter into the negs for a player in August when they could have done this in June/July.

The answer to both is no.

Jack Grealish will work out cheaper - he is proven but again still a gamble IMO ...
Unlikely to have any resale value when we're finished with him (when he's finished basically) and plays mainly from the left/centre where we've already got players.

Dibbling all day for me, even if it takes some of our budget from another position and we loan a RB instead of buying one. Or get Hackney instead of either Luis/Luiz etc.

Obrien can play right back - midfield a winger & another striker for me ....

Two different investments.

Grealish is an investment for right now - you look at him and say go on get us up the league and into Europe and make us money next season.

Dibling in an investment in the future, you cost me £50 mill today, but you will make my £50 back + another £50 mill in four years time.

Both investments you ae hoping to make you a return.

I honestly do think we could have a really year this year if we were to sort what we need to sort with this level of quality.

We are due one and secondly I am just sniffing a few teams who had good seasons last season struggling
