He did get Barry for a lot less than his release fee and KDH for less than Chelsea paid for him 12 months ago, which count in his favour if we are scrutinising every deal.

The amount we will end up paying for Barry will be at his asking price anyway because I read that the add ons are supposed to be easily achievable.

As for KDH, he signed for Chelsea last year for £30m on a 5 year deal so his value is £25m to Chelsea this summer so they have broken even on a player that never seemed to fit their criteria to begin with

You can potentially argue Garner.. but Alcaraz and KDH 'much of a muchness' compared to the players we had this time last year? really?

This is tin foil hat stuff tbh. Joyce and Ornstein aren’t lying about Everton struggling to sign players for the benefit of Liverpool fans (who generally couldn’t give a monkeys). We actually are (clearly) struggling.

The media’s entire economic model is built on engagement. Clubs are reported on differently to drive maximum engagement. That’s just capitalism logic. It’s why the vast majority of football media in this country is centred on about 4 clubs. Positive Everton stories don’t drive the same traffic as negative ones. Of course Liverpool fans care about what Everton do, it’s ridiculous to suggest they don’t. If we
played United in a champions league final tomorrow every single one of them would want United to win no matter how much they like to pretend we’re not their main rivals or they don’t care about us.
