Villa commenting on it indicates there's something going on. It's a weak 'response' from them too.

Possibly in the foothills of an Everton deal or maybe they're flagging up his availability to other clubs.

This is a worrying bid. It reminds of that season where we made loads of bids to make it look like we are trying to do business but not actually doing the deals. I hope im wrong

31 in October so would be his last contract & payday. We have been here before & got burnt.

Doesn’t strike me as the type who could maintain the required fitness levels for another 4 years & smells like a Moyes request.

Could be a sop to Moyes if he wants him so we can say we tried.

Am I right in thinking that clubs speak to the agent / player prior to putting in a bid these days?
They would only put in a bid to Villa if they got some encouragement from the player wouldn't they?

Probably referring to our earlier bid and using their ‘rejection’ to distract from announcing a three year deal for high earning 32 year old Lucas Digne.

He's a good player but that fee is way too high. The type of player you should be signing on a free if available but 18m!? What on earth.

These are the types of signings we should be staying away from. I don't want to hear the typical "He walks into our side, instantly becomes the best player, etc. etc." A bad signing is a bad signing. He is not somebody we should be targeting at that price at this moment. Doubt there is anything in it.
