More evidence that the Nottingham Forest';s bid for Douglas Luiz isn't serious: they've supposedly offered to throw in Ibrahim Sangaré, their club record signing who had his season cut short with a hamstring tear. By all accounts, Juventus need to move Luiz to be able to complete a deal for Hjulmand. Why in the world would they take a swap here? The finances of the two contracts and their book values makes no sense, especially if their real target is Hjulmand. It continues to stink of them trying to get someone else to bite, and specifically trying to get Everton to re-enter negotiations and close the deal, but that ship has sailed.

Interesting. But what motivation do Forest have throwing in a fake bid? What do they gain out of it?

I don't think they're bidding at all. It sounds really silly, but their owner is a close friend of Luiz's agent, Kia Joorabchian, and Forest often gets brought up as a supposed competitor when his clients are pushing for more money or he's trying to pressure the closing of a deal.

I think that was his gambit here, and it backfired. Juventus jumped on the Forest ploy since there were no other serious bidders and saw it as their best chance to get Everton back to the table. They started telegraphing that Forest was agreeing to the same terms as Everton with one concession on an obligation, and that's gone nowhere for a few days, so the latest is that Forest could throw a player into the deal.

Balzarini, who gets his information from Juventus, is starting to waffle and says both that this deal could be done very quickly, and that maybe they won't even do a deal. They're in a weak position, needing to sell to be able to purchase Hjulmand, but they're trying to be macho and act like they hold the cards. I think the reality is that they really need a straight sale or at least an obligation to buy, and Forest is likely unable to do a deal like this due to PSR while Everton still can pull it off if they want to.
