Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Again based on what we were supposedly after and what we know/believe we need.

This is how I would judge the window up to 6th August.

All things could change, don’t get me wrong…. But we are leaving everything very late, spent far too much time waiting for our supposed main targets and should have attempted to be far more prepared for this season which starts in 9 days time.

I haven’t said you are calling a success…. You are the one quoting me and asking my opinions / thoughts.

Usually is with Moyes, thing is, D-Hall sort of came out of the blue and was landed and done quite handy.
Deal for KDH Was wrapped up very fast but rumoured for a few days before being confirmed. Grealish and Dibling, both been rumoured for quite a while now.

Feel like we often sign players completely out of the left field with no prior links towards the end of summer windows. Who knows who will become available but I'm expecting a surprise.

This is just idiotic. We have absolutely no control over whether teams are willing to sell us their players and whether they want to come. You’re holding the club to a completely ridiculous standard.

Well that's the quandary, some are looking for 'elite' targets, others want deals done early, others want them for a reasonable price.

Those demands are incompatible.

Good god, if Hutchinson moves for 40m then that's just where the market's at and 50m for Dibling isn't too bad. Guess we just got unlucky we had to do a rebuild in a year where prices went mental again.

Why? Hutchinson was one of the standout players for England U21s at their Euro's - Dibling was dropped to the England U19's (before the pulled out with minor injuries).

Grealish - Signed a 6 year contract with city in 2021, for a then record £100m fee from Villa. So has two years left on his deal.

City have to do something with him, because they are unlikely to extend his contract similarly when he's 31 at the end of the current deal.

So, a year in the shop window sounds great, but he's allowed to discuss new deals with other clubs in 18 months.

It's not like he's been flogged to death playing three times a week for the past 4 years is it.

His agent played a blinder getting him his current deal. But it's meant not as much football as he'd probably have liked.
The fact he cost 100m means his book value is still going to be 30m - 40m or so. So they need someone to pay that not to make a loss for PSR

And no one is going to pay 35m and give him 200k / 300k a week.

Which is why I think a loan is likely where this ends up. Unfortunately because of this City can wait and wait till the deadline on the off chance someone decides to make a better offer. I don't think it will happen, but if you were in their position you would probably wait it out at least another fortnight.
