Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Offer the money for Dibling for Kubo.
I think this is the worst thing we can do. He’s five years older, 24 isn’t ancient but winger is a very young position so it’s pretty much peak for one. He also by all accounts was poorer last season than the one before, you don’t bet 50m that that is a blip and not a trend.

I’ve attached his transfermarkt market value graph, not scientific but reflects the declining trend in his performances. My major question would be- if no one wanted to trigger his 60m€ clause when his MV was about that, why on earth would we do it now it’s half that?

Will be interesting to see the fortunes of Sesko, Barry and Ekitike this year.. wouldn’t be like us to get the best deal but Barry at half the price of the other two could be a surprise package… as long as we get a half decent midfield behind him that is!

I'm the first to complain about the club overpaying for players but I think we have to accept that we might just need to suck it up on the fee for whatever RW we get.

We desperately need a ceiling-raiser on the right, and we've probably exhausted our options for players of that quality where the price is more achievable BUT it's harder to get them to choose us. That leaves us with players where it's more achievable to get them to choose us BUT the price is steep.

To a degree, a player is worth what he's worth to the buying and selling clubs. We have a huge need at RW so that worth will be inflated from our side.

Not every purchase can be a fantastic deal - we probably got good deals for Barry, Alcaraz, Aznou and Travers. KDH feels about normal market value atm. RW we'll probably overpay compared to the market. It is what it is.

Ekitike is a genuine level above sadly. Sesko and Barry I wouldn't put too far apart though

Surely we should have a cohesive presence in as many countries as possible .
South America produces a large number of technically brilliant and exciting players.
Just concentrating on Britain would leave us competing for fewer quality players amidst powerful PL clubs .
There is far more value to be gained abroad then here.
Who was the last top top quality South American bought by a Premier League club direct from South America that has blew up and moved on for big money?
Caeicedo? 5 years ago

I don’t disagree with that, just that it shouldn’t be Kubo. Just buy Dibling.

Is this our transfer list.
We have tried half of these.
Looks like we are getting to the bottom of that list and then move on to next page when they reject us

Six or twelve month contract? If necessary, replacing him with someone who'll be available for a key period in our Premiership history ?
Why on earth would big nose except a 6 mth contract?

Plus you’re trusting him to spend 100m plus at a club where he’s leaving…bonkers!

I again repeat my view that we should have retained Thelwell...
Atleast for 1 year crossover period while the new team are getting established with the wish lists etc... But then again, surely all of Thelwell's work at the club ie lists of targets and why he wanted them remained saved on a club computer somewhere?
