I love this idea that players go on holiday and stuff themselves with burger and chips for 2 weeks and don’t move. He was playing in that daft friendly tournament until mid July he should be fitter than anyone in our squad.

Not about eating food mate, his season went on waaaaaay longer than normal and that needs to be taken into account. No point rushing him if hes behind fitness wise

Just hope that he doesn't hit a flat spot halfway through the season as he didn't get a proper summer break.

It’s the same as players playing at any international tournament. There’s no reason why he won’t be able to start the season.
It's also not as if he's played copious amount of games last season: he played equivalent to four and a bit PL games last season in total.

Yes he played in the ECL, FA Cup and CWC, but in total he played just less than 21 full games*. He's now had a break, and the CWC was pre-season.

*total game time, split by 90

I honestly don't think that matters anymore, it's pretty much the norm these days for there to be no discernible break between seasons. As Mike said, 'pre-season' used to be a big fitness drive because players had stopped playing in May and then lived a totally different lifestyle for a couple of months and had to get back up to speed, now they're all doing their own fitness drills and following a club diet even in the couple of weeks they have off. Obviously for players who play 50+ club games plus internationals and then have a summer tournament aswell there's a risk of burnout, but that doesn't apply to KDH so he really should be fine.

Thinking of him as the Gomes replacement at 8, but can actually play at PL pace mate.

Likely in the role Arteta took up when he came in from the right and played centrally.

Think he has to play deep in the 8 for us. We can’t play a three of Garner Gana Alcaraz, there’s just too many gaps and not enough pace or guile. I’m hoping it’s Garner KDH deep with either Alcaraz or a new number 10 ahead.

If we brought in the two mythical wide players we could even move Ndiaye to 10.
