Your First, Last and Best Beer

You`re in the wrong pub !

Head over to the Masons Arms on the square, just around the corner from the Kings.

A pub doesn`t win that many awards over the years for nothing ;) ( their ale is very cheap too, as it`s a free house )

Ps - any sign of the Black Cock Inn facing the Kings re opening ? ( stayed in there many times over the years )
Masons Arms - terrific. Had a good beer there (cant remember its name) but it wasn't my latest one ... which was with dinner.

By the looks of it you'll have to look elsewhere for your Black Cock.

First beer in a pub, aged 14, mid-Wales - Toby Light about 13p.

Last, today in Croatia all inclusive beer, no discernible name circa 0.5% ABV, bloody disgusting.

BEST - hard to say, but probably a pint (or several) of bass mild, cask, in Loughborough, circa 1984. The Old English Gentleman was the pub. Bloody gorgeous.

A proper decent lager or pilsner is absolutely glorious!!

I've done a 360 over the years. When younger it was purely (crap) lagers.. As I got to 30's it was trendy IPA's and ales..

Now in my 40's I've gone back to lagers and pilsners. There's nothing quite as refreshing as a nice lager when its hot!

Completely bored with IPA's and ales now. Just boring heavy drinks. I do still like an occasional stout or porter, Guiness too!
I’m 100% with you. I started with Stella in my teens in the 90s. Went to ales in my late twenties/thirties and now back to lager. Love a Cruzcampo, Menabrea or dare I say it, yes I will Stella. Full circle.
So first Stella, last Renegade, best Menabrea.

First :- Tewkesbury working man's club, 16 years old , lager and lime, bar steward Evan " Akers" turned a blind eye, then when I was 18 acted shocked , lovely fella !.

Last:- Guinness at Setrights pub, Cratloe on a dual carriageway, been driving past for 30 years and never been inside. As a passenger, took advantage, 4 pints had !.

Best:- Guinness, Hilerys bar Miltown Malbay,County Clare, went into this place after being in a church at a wedding and before the reception . 3 lads Just the one we said....I've drank Guinness for many years , none as good as that day.

Fraziskaner
Franziskaner? Really good weißbier, that. I got back into it when I went to Munich a couple of years ago. Might now be my favourite style of beer. Happily, a few of the supermarkets carry a few different brands - Weihenstephaner, Paulaner and Schneider Weisse all very good too if you can get them. 👍🏻

First - Whitbread Castle Keep bitter because it 8p cheaper than lager. In The Hind pub.

Last - Little Creatures amber ale, in the Geelong brewery about an hour ago

Best - Wilde Child Clique Fiesta Biscoff Imperial Stout

First: My first pint was a pint of mild my dad bought me when I was about 14 in my grandparent's pub.

Before that, my first actual beer was some cheap French lager with friends when I was about 12, which we had 'acquired' from my mate's house.

Last: Estrella Damm Lemon, which I had today. Lager isn't my go-to choice, but this is a brilliant, refreshing drink when it's warm and having food.

Best: An odd one perhaps with all the different beers I've tasted, but I had a pint of Tetley's Cask in the Rose around 2003, which was sublime!

Salopian Shropshire Gold is probably my favourite beer to have if I see it.
Cask Tetley is hugely underrated

Well kept cask Bass was a sublime pint, sadly most places didn`t serve it right and more often than not it was nasty.

Very much like Tetley`s Cask.
Used to have it back in the 60s in the now defunct Allerton*, beautiful stuff it was too.
I didn't go there too often, then 6mts later I went back no Bass - gutted
*That was before it went down the nick and was a just a stop off for weed and beak

Schneider is a favourite when it comes to dark wheat beers. If you like Weihenstephan, keep an eye out for Weltenburg beers and you compare what claim to be the two oldest breweries in the world. (1040 vs 1050 AD)
