Your First, Last and Best Beer

Last: a good friend, Reve Coffee Stout by Parish (a Louisiana brewer). It didn't pair well with what I was eating but it is a very nice beer.

kinell, just read that BA gives Reve Coffee Stout a 97, and while that's no Pliny the Elder (perfect 100) it's a very high score. Never had any Pliny, never actually seen it, and really don't like IPA, but if I ever get a chance I to drink some Pliny I will absolutely take that chance.

First: I'm GenX, most of us were still in diapers when we had our first sip so I don't remember.

Last: Athletic Brewing 'Free Wave'.
N/A but the worst thing is it's an IPA but I wasn't paying attention when I got it. Apparently they have a blonde that I will try next. N/A beer has come A LONG way, nothing like it was 25 years ago.

Best: St. Bernardus ABT 12
Take it from me and we might scrap. If it wasn't so pricey here I'd still have probably bankrupted myself filling a fridge bought just for it.

St Bernardus is very nice. Have you had the new range of Belgian NAs? Seen these recently and interested in how they taste.

Also, pulling a random sixer and bought some Gose from a local brewer without reading the label: it was a pickle Gose. Very good for what it is, but can really only drink it with hot dogs or something like that. There's just too many bad ideas out there and people shouldn't be brewing all of these weird flavors (and I like a lot of "weird flavors" as some suggest.)

No, I've had to lay off high alcohol content items since I was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) in March of last year. Gonna' have to wait for a new kidney until I can swim in Belgian waters again and, even then, it'll probably be in the shallow end.

Sorry, just noticed you said NA's. No, I haven't. Still new to the NA game so haven't had a wide variety. I think I saw a La Chouffe NA but I'm not sure; matter of fact (I just googled it) I think that may be my next pickup, thanks for reminding me.

A proper decent lager or pilsner is absolutely glorious!!

I've done a 360 over the years. When younger it was purely (crap) lagers.. As I got to 30's it was trendy IPA's and ales..

Now in my 40's I've gone back to lagers and pilsners. There's nothing quite as refreshing as a nice lager when its hot!

Completely bored with IPA's and ales now. Just boring heavy drinks. I do still like an occasional stout or porter, Guiness too!

First in a pub: pint of Heineken in The Greenhills, aged about 17. (as an aside was persuaded to move onto vodka by the person I was with and got horribly drunk - also the first time that happened)
Last: pint of Stella yesterday when out for a meal celebrating my daughter's birthday
Best: a wheat beer that they serve in The Ship and Mitre in town. It's got a massive long name - possibly Koenig something or other?
