I think the fact he was a product of Leicester's academy he was content in aiding his club in regaining their premier league footing , not a lack of ambition. The conference league is no different than a player comes from an obscure league like soucek if anything it makes him more multifaceted playing in different competitions
Well if you really want to work to make this make sense I guess you’ve got it here

I think it’s fair to question a 27 year old (thanks to everyone who checked me on that earlier) who hasn’t played in the PL for two seasons essentially is worth spending close to 30m on. Add on that he wasn’t all that as a PL player and well… what exactly are we doing with this one?

If we needed a half #10 half #8 with no future upside and meh current ability couldn’t we just get Ross off Villa for like 5m quid and called it a day?
Tell me you’re a yank without telling me you’re a yank

Honestly, some of you would moan if we got a 25 year old Messi on a free, saying he’s too short for the Prem, or that we should get Ronaldo in instead.

Reminds me of a lad I knew who won the a few grand on the work World Cup sweepstakes, and complained more about his hangover after celebrating, than he was pleased with the money.

Ok mate, so How is this one disappointing again?

What has made us not win on this one?
It’s poor value, and I guess I’m prepared to be wrong, but given his age and price he basically has to be Gana Gueye level from day one to work out and there just aren’t a ton of those out there.

Was unreal at Leicester in their promotion year. The price we're paying is about right for a top level Championship player in today's market

Only difference is he's had a year dotting about as a bit part player for a Champions league club since. As to whether he'll be a better player for that, or that makes this a bigger risk, is a matter of opinion

But the price is fairly reflective of where he is as a player. If you think otherwise then you're stuck in the past
Not £30M for a player who's record is patchy.

You dont pay that out for a squad player, which is what he should be for us.

He'll let us down time and time again. MIA.

1 in 5 players do not get individual honours like this.

Some absolutely bizarre shouts in here, even for an Everton forum

I can imagine some of the reactions if we'd bought McTominay a year ago, sometimes a solid player is needed and not just the exciting unknowns.
McTominay worked out for Napoli because he was being miscast as a deep lying player when he’s really the best version of what we got from Fellaini.

Maybe that’s KDH too, but without some clear idea of how we intend to get more from him than others it’s questionable.

I actually think that’s the best case here. We stop messing around with this deeper nonsense, stick him behind the striker and he goes crazy. It’s still a lot of money on a wing and a prayer.

I have a vague recollection of him running the game when we drew with them 1-1 at home a few years ago. Was it when Lampard was here?

Seems to be able to pick a pass and, in what would be a revelation in an Everton shirt in recent times, seems to be able to pass it forwards without hoofing it in the air at the same time.

a lot of us were moaning when tarky transferred in, iirc

regardless of why he stayed there for so long, the lad clearly has character and i don't think you can have too much of that in a squad.
