Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Sticking my neck out, I think we will sign Dibling, also obviously still think Mcatee will be bought, I do feel like Fofana is gonna arrive also - I think his options are running out for a CL premier League move. Not sure who we buy at right back but think one will be brought in late. And can see us going for an out and out defensive midfielder - no idea who though.

So yeah I'm thinking comfortably over 200 closer to 250 spent.
If we pay £45m+ for Dibling, City are hardly going to lower their £45m valuation of McAtee are they?

Nizaar Kinsella from BBC also is less optimistic

You’ve been getting drunk far too often this Summer. No way you can actually believe any of this.

I just don't see anything to suggest we are going to sign McAtee.

Whether we sign Dibling remains to be seen, but we clearly want to sign him. Then we also want Grealish. I just don't see where McAtee would fit into that.

I think it’s all a bit of grandstanding tbh. They don’t want to be bent over for their best talent and we don't want to either when we still have to recruit so many other players. Something will get thrashed out. If it doesn't, we'll be knackered won't we.

Fofana won't come, we cannot afford Kubo. That's when you get into the panic buying Omari Hutchinson territory. The clubs will find an agreement.

Tyler just needs to hand in a transfer request and that’ll speed up proceedings

The latest from Gianni Balzarini on Douglas Luiz:
“The other problem is Douglas Luiz, for whom negotiations with Nottingham Forest are in constant progress. It’s a matter of a loan to be converted into an obligation to buy. As far as the figures go, there’s more or less an agreement, because Juventus isn’t budging from a €40 million valuation. So the possibility would be to get €10 million upfront, plus €30 million with a purchase option that becomes an obligation. They’re discussing this aspect, this situation. Everton continues to show interest in the player, who wasn’t used in the friendly match. So that’s another important clue that this is a negotiation that could be concluded. I’m not saying soon—don’t ask me for a timeline—but it’s a negotiation that, in my opinion, will be concluded.”
I still think it's gamesmanship. His last update was about Forest entering the race and offering less than the asking price, but willing to accept the obligation clause. I think Balzarini is passing along the company line, what they're also saying to Everton, i.e., we have another buyer ready to go one step further. Are you ready to accept the obligation?

It's kind of funny to me that he emphasizes Luiz not featuring in their friendlies as "an important clue" that a deal could be done soon, when we know that he flew with the club to Germany over the weekend in advance of the next friendly at Borussia Dortmund on the 10 August. That seems like an even bigger clue that a deal isn't that close, unless something changed in the last 24 hours.

I think at this stage, the club have to start factoring in the uncertainty that follows should they not meet the asking price they're obviously quite close to into the value of the deal.

If we don't get Dibling over the line, who else is on the list, how long does it take to get as far down the line as we are with Dibling, and is it really worth potentially falling short on that deal too?

45 million is a crazy amount, but so is 40 and we're already there.
