Saints reportedly sticking to their minimum £40m fixed and pushing £50m all in for Dibling which has been the consistent position in their local media. We do not want to go there if we trust BBC (big if). Might Omari Hutchinson be where we pivot? Could it be one of the random linked names like the Georgian lad at St. Etienne?

If it’s looking like 50M it’s near enough the rumoured price for Kubo. If we aren’t wanting to pay that we won’t want to spend that on Dibing either.

slightly offtopic, but why do other leagues (e.g. Serie A) manage to get transfers across the door so quickly? like from interest to actually reporting out news they've been signed, it always feels like the prem takes centuries

If it’s looking like 50M it’s near enough the rumoured price for Kubo. If we aren’t wanting to pay that we won’t want to spend that on Dibing either.

Moreso with Kubo it is the 50% sell on clause to Madrid portion that they want paying in full as part of the upfront amount. We arent going to be doing that as it makes the deal too rich. That will be the dealbreaker there.

I don`t know if it has made it`s way on here but apparently someone at Southamptons academy reckons Dibling is the best prospect brought through in the last 30 years. Being as they brought through Walcott and Bale that is a big claim.

Yeah don’t get me wrong, the lad looks a really good prospect and would improve us.

But, It’s looking like a record signing for us and I’d expect someone a bit older and with a few more top flight games to be commanding that kind of fee. There’s not many 19 year olds starting in premier league first teams.

Anyway, hopefully the lad comes in and hits the ground running, it’s probably the arl EFC anxiety making me think this way, Koff Everton.

I agree, I did say in my original post we`d see Everton spending £250m in terms of transfer fees albeit staged... the players we are going for aren`t going to be asking for 120k-150k p/w contracts with the exception of Grealish and maybe Luiz but its`s not clear if we are in for Luiz still.

Hopefully we will look strong by the end of September but just disappointed we didn`t do it sooner to give ourselves a better chance of maximising points in August, fortunately there is only 3 games.

Obv AFCON is a concern right now, but that might still change of course.

Sticking my neck out, I think we will sign Dibling, also obviously still think Mcatee will be bought, I do feel like Fofana is gonna arrive also - I think his options are running out for a CL premier League move. Not sure who we buy at right back but think one will be brought in late. And can see us going for an out and out defensive midfielder - no idea who though.

So yeah I'm thinking comfortably over 200 closer to 250 spent.

The Wesley deal took a took a fair while tbf. That wasn't a quick deal. There will be others that were not quick either in that league. Perception vs reality or they are just very good at keeping the initial approach under wraps until it is a concrete interest and then the relatively short theatre period begins when almost agreed.

Think we get Dibling too. Not a popular one but potentially Maitland Niles as he has had passing mentions in recent days for RB if they are struggling to find a.n. orher with a cover option for midfield thrown in.

I think we sign Dibling and KDH, I also think Grealish could come in which is a complete 180 from me. Douglas Luiz, why has he not moved yet? We offered the right amount but not the obligation, is this going to happen?

Then Fofana, if he decided he wanted to come to Everton would we still be open to taking him?

Unfortunately we will only find out in time... what a window this could be, I hope we aren`t left disappointed.

If we sign Grealish, Dibling and Dewsbury-Hall, Fofana definitely won’t be coming mate, even if he changes his mind and decides he want to play for us.
