Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

So we are looking to spunk north of 70m on two players who, with the best will in the world, are punts at this point.

Now, I have no issue with an Everton which will fund transfers. Kudos to the owners. However, they'd better get these two right if they are going to spend that kind of points deduction potential on these two. Do we trust the likes of Kinnear to do that?

One thing's for sure: they will be judged mercilessly if these two transfers turn out to be wastes of money.

Tough gig, Angus. But they are paying you very well to get this right...

I’ve explained why you are wrong. You said the three year calculation was 22/23, 23/24, 24/25.

We are in 25/26, the current expenditure is in FY 25/26, why would the three year calculation for 25/26 not include 25/26? Therefore 22/23 is no longer on the calculation relating to current expenditure
It depends what the question is... CBA to go back and check. Even when we get the accounts are out it will be best guess as to what the headroom for the 3 years rolling 24/25 was? Up until June just gone the calc would have been 22/23, 23/24 & 24/25. The accounts aren`t released for 6 months and then PSR is not itemised. Then there will be an assumption of what is dropping off from 22/23 and 25/26 will all be budgeted and forecasts, the actuals may look very different when looking at 25/26 which is the current period.

But if we sold the womens team and restructured debt removing the high interest repayments and anything else that might become apparent with the release of the new accounts before the end of 24/25 accounts we could be affectively resetting our PSR position a lot lower than fans anticipate. It`s pure guesswork until we understand where we were at June 25 to be able to work forward.

So what you're saying is that you don't know. Thanks for clarifying.

I know they aren't exactly like for like. But I imagine KDH coming in means Douglas Luiz is off to Forest and not us.

Surely funds now need to go towards RB RW or upfront.
We are still desperate for CM reinforcements which KDH isn't. Once Gana goes to Afcon (or just starts finally feeling his age) our next best DM is probably Iroegbunam, so...

I see people talking about our worst year dropping off, Toffee TV have said it too but it`s not true, apoplogies.

The year dropped off will be 21/22 (loss £38.3m, restated in 2023 accounts) and the 3 year rolling calc will be 22/23 (89.1m loss), 23/24 (£53.2m loss) and 24/25 we don`t know yet until early next year but it looks like we may have sold the womens team before the end of this year amongst other things..

Next year the big one drops off...

Errrrrm you're wrong, it's a three year rolling period, meaning that fir the last period 22/23, 23/24, 24/25 will count. As we already have stick the figures in for that period. We are talking about PSR for this season coming which will count 23/24,24/25 and 25/26, so yes we are dropping off the biggest financial loss year.

Better to take punts on a 26 year old and a 19 year old than a 28 and 30 year old for silly money. Not the perfect strategy, but at least there is hope for resale value. We probably overestimated how much draw the new stadium would have. We need to show we can compete for European footy. Keep the backline healthy and we have a shot.

OK you know, what is our PSR position? Exactly!
