Tbh if youd said at the start of the window that we’d:

Keep Branthwaite and extend his deal

Make Alcaraz permanent

Not renew any of Doucoure DCL Young Harrison Lindstrom Mangala Broja

Spend 30 mill plus each on Barry, Dewsbury Hall, Dibling.

Also add Aznou and Travers for good fees as a back up competition.

and have it all done before the first game of the season.

I’d have probably taken that right there and then.

I think the Moyes comment regarding elite players convinced many of us we were going for it this summer. It hasn't (yet) transpired that way. None of the players currently linked or potentially signing make us a top 6 team and that's problematic for me. I know we've been scraping the barrel for a few years now but the sense of change within the club may have, wrongly, given us false hope

I think we run the club down too much.

Every footballer knows that even in our low points we've been a club that's a stepping stone to the CL.

They now see we mean business with the infrastructure and as long as you pay their wages they'll come here.

I get that but these players think they are good enough for CL teams.

Can we wait until late when they realize they are not wanted or do we strengthen now with out number 2 targets?

I class someone like Lukaku when we got him as a statement signing.

He wasn't big bucks but he was transformational and had that scope to him even before he arrived.

We need goals and someone with PL experience and proven GS ability.

That makes sense, I'm just wary of the phrase "statement signing" as it snacks of going out to get the glamour names with no thought of where they would play or if they are needed

I have no idea why anyone would object to that.

Trossard is a very good player. Would love to see us linked with him.

No, we have to get bodies in I recognise that. But what we've seen so far doesn't impress me tbh...and KDH looks like a waste of scarce cash.
