Confirmed Signing Jack Grealish

I don't really get the hype. He just has a high media profile and was sold for a massive fee, which turned out to be a bad mistake. Theo Walcott scored and created more when he was in his prime than Grealish ever has. Even DvdB had way better stats than Grealish, albeit in the Eredivisie.

Jack is entertaining because he takes defenders on. He buys fouls in dangerous areas, so perhaps contributes to more goals than his stats show, but there's no evidence he would transform our team.

Even in his most productive seasons, he's never managed more than a goal every 4-5 games. Only once in his career has he played more than 28 games in a season.

If we even pay half his wages and there's no loan fee, he costs us £7.5m + agent fees, tax, etc. If City want a loan fee of £12m, then he's costing us well over 10% of our annual turnover.

He would need to absolutely transform the team to justify that and I don't see the evidence he'd do that.
I got to the first paragraph and had to stop, anyone who thinks Walcott is better than Grealish, clearly doesn’t understand football.

Yeah, it would have been better a month ago but neither Luiz nor Grealish are going to leave until late in the window until City and Juve realise they can't shift those players permanently. Then it'll be a question of negotiating how much the loans cost which will again be a bit of brinkmanship.

I understand the frustration everyone has, but neither of those players are moving anytime relatively soon.

I think those 2 may be ones Moyes wants.

I also concur with bluestevon below that Moyes wants ready to go oven warm senior players.

My guess is that Moyes choices want to wait...so were waiting.

Then the odd youngster like Dibling and Fofana (and Anzou/Barry) were running past him and hes agreeing too because his choices arent coming or would take too long.

The backing Moyes thing I don't get.

The window is open for another month.

Yeah Moyes is moaning about not getting in the players he needs, which suggests he isn't the one calling the shots on who we buy, thank Christ.

Just a hunch, but maybe recruitment is focused on recruiting with a strategy of the long haul, focusing on youth and players who can develop a d the highest quality ones we can in that regard.

Maybe Moyes - talking about only limited time here and Europe being the aim this season doesn't share that idea and would rather bring in players ready right now with lots of experience, why? Because if anyone think you offered Moyes a European finish the next two years then after he leaves the club fell off a cliff again due to recruiting older players with no long term vision - that he wouldnt accept that over two years of mid table but then handing a very talented developing younger team over to a new manager who kicks on with us, then you are kidding yourselves.

The annoyance from Moyes is because he is not getting the players through the door that HE wants, more so than not getting anyone. And I can guarantee those players will all be ones the wrong side of 25

We do need a top CM signed so I can understand why Moyes would want an experienced starter there.

Can also see why he would want Grealish for the same reason and to add goals and assists.

However, for the money and the upside i reckon theres better long term prospects out there. Its a fine line really.

Those 2 on loan would be ace. Permanently not at all for Grealish.

I’d rather get a Kubo or Fofana type player over the line before exploring Grealish - even if he’s going to be a loan player

Dibling and Fofana would fill be with delight for the future while Grealish is a stop gap.

I didn't say he was better; I said his statistics for goals and assists were better. That's a matter of fact, not opinion.
